    It is weird that we didn't hear this from him right after Tomlin stepped down. I'm sure he contacted him directly to wish him well.

    I think Rudolph has been hearing so much bad stuff about Tomlin that he wanted to get it out there. It has to bother players that genuinely liked and respected Tomlin to let him know that they have his back and that he has meant and will continue to mean a lot to them.

    His whole departure was sudden and strange. Since he elected not to do a press conference and because it was after the season and reporters dont have access to the players, there has been very little said about it outside of the pundits.

    Really does feel strange. Will be interesting to see if at some point in the future, Tomlin has some kind of statement on his time with the Steelers. Maybe he feels it's more appropriate to reflect later, after the sting from a 7th consecutive abysmal playoff performance has subsided.

    I honestly think that MT believed he was loved by Steelers fans and the chants really hurt his ego. I’m not saying he wasn’t possibly leaving after last year regardless but I think the haste and silence make him seem salty. The guy simply stayed around about 5 years too long and it ended ugly.

    If thats true it’s really petty because there are a lot of Tomlin supporters so he scorns them too to spite the boo birds?

    He probably just doesnt want to answer all the questions to explain why he is stepping down, why he couldnt break the winless playoff drought, ect.
