Interesting. Like the outside the box thinking here.

They had some good LBs. The freshman - I think his name is Roberts - damn good.

That time off for Mike McCarthy really must have helped him out. I don't recall him making such moves during his time with Dallas. As for C.J. Ah You, he led a rock solid Texas Tech LB Corps during the past two seasons and not just this one.

David Bailey does get all of the spotlight but Romello Height and Jacob Rodriguez are players who are also worth a look; doubly so in Height. He doesn't have the height nor length one would want but his superb based speed to power based pass rushing skills are not to be faulted. Only major issue is that he is scheme limited in addition to him being 24.

Wondering what the chain of connection between the two is?

usually someone knows someone who puts someone on the radar type of thing. Always interesting to see how the various networks are built.

Helps that Cody Campbell gave TTU football a blanket check.

McCarthy couldn't do **** with that insecure, medaling, fossil on his neck at every turn in Dallas.

Jimmy Johnson was the last Coach that could for the Cowboys. Brian Schottenheimer likely will be the same; Jerry doing everything and anything he so desires.

Jerry Jones didn't turn into Jerra until the second half of the back end of his back to back title team. After that it was Kobe like and Shaq with Jerry vs Jimmy and then it continued until the present.

I know the scheme is part of it, but he had his players flying around and making plays. The Texas Tech pass rushers were the NCAA equivalent of the Houston Texans pass rushers.

I like this hire a lot.

I don't know much about him but if he can bring a different edge i'm all for it. Which begs the question, is Watt the right fit then? He is set in his ways on the left side and has balked about moving around. Flying around is reserved for Herbig's type. So maybe a move away from Watt? Trade? I wouldn't be against it.

Watt said right before he signed his huge contract that he would be willing to move along the line more. He then signed the contract and proceeded to stay in his comfort zone and had a very sub par year. They can trade him any day now for all I care. Would have got a much better return for him a few years back though.

Guess Tech's pass rush was too good this year not to draw attention to themselves.

My guess is that Watt isn't going anywhere. I would be surprised if he wanted to be traded. Ultimately, I think he will embrace the changes and see a renewed energy inside the locker room. I think we will see his enthusiasm build when he meets the new coaching staff and sees the new talent in the building.

They started moving Watt along the line a little more often late in the season. Now we need to see the defensive scheme they go with and how creative it gets. It's tough to know that at this stage of the game.

It's like anything else. We all get comfortable doing things a certain way. Sometimes, getting a fresh perspective is exactly what is best for a player and will put him the best position to help the team and get him more splash plays. More disguise by the defense can also help create more opportunities for him so that offenses can't set up their protections in passing situations as easily because they don't know who may be rushing the quarterback.

We will all find out together.

Follow up here - some of the guys I was thinking of are off the ball LBs, so a different coach, but their OLBs brought it every snap as well with David Bailey being a projected Top 5 pick.
