I will first admit I am a little disappointed that the Steelers did not bring back Eddie Faulkner.

Now as far as Ramon Chinyoung, has he ever been a RB Coach before? Or even played the position?

All I can see O-Line experience and nothing ever to do with the RBs. This may be a case of McCarthy hiring a buddy of his, and nothing to do with actual RB experience?

Sure looks like a huge step back from Eddie Faulkner.

    And a Little further Back.
Chinyoung was an offensive line coach and later the assistant head coach at Houston’s Westfield High School from 2012-2019 before serving as the head coach at FBISD’s Willowridge High School in 2020 and 2021, compiling an 11-8 record in two seasons.

A lot of those position coaches move around and coach different positions.

I am guessing that is Mike McCarthy picking his RB coach. :lolol:

This seems like one of the worst hires so far to me. Our RBs can't run, or catch, but with 4 former O-Line coaches running the offense they can sure throw a block. :)

And I'd be a lot more worried about an RB coach moving to OL than vice versa.

OL coach seems like they need to know a lot more about the entire offense than a RB coach. I'd imagine that OL coach is closer to an OC job than a RB coach.

Seems kind of like a demotion IMO.

    He was “assistant” OL coach

It’s a very fair question IMO. I guess we’ll see how it pans out, but I’m not at all enthused about this hire.

Emphasis on blocking it looks like for RBs, to be honest Warren and Gainwell dont need that much more coaching, they are already playing at a high level, probably more to do w Kaleb Johnson and building a prioritize blocking culture

The only thing I can think of is that as an experienced o-line person, he understands how blocking schemes unfold, so he can instruct rb's in the best way to attack......
His younger age, along with Jahri Evans, could also represent the beginnings of developing a coaching tree
