Adam Schefter is reporting that Dallas Clark intends to play this season and says that a deal could get done this week. In light of our current challenges at TE and not knowing when Heath will be ready to go, could this be our guy?

If they are going to bring someone in, I just assume they pick up Boss.

Dallas Clark would be a nice addition, but that is a bunch of receiving TE's then, none who really block?

    Wouldn't surprise me.

Of course some of us Steeler purists may have an issue with a guy named Landry AND a guy named Dallas on our team at the same time anyway. :smiley1:

Ratbirds just signed him. Of course they did. They knew we had a need for a TE!

Nope. I thought he was but looked him up after you asked, Chiefs released him after failing a physical, seems he has concussion problems.

Lets not jump ahead of ourselves here guys. Just heading into the second week of preseason. Nothing is written in stone about who will make the cut. I watched that video on the Friday night lights game and Colbert said they were going to look at whats out there for OL men after the cuts begin because by the start of the season there is suppose to be like 250 OL players out of a job. I don't think Clark fits with what they are looking for in Baltimore unless they are going to use him as a slot possession receiver which is what they were speculating on in regards to the Ravens resigning Stokley for. Otherwise I just don't think he fits their offense unless the new OC is going i a different direction. Clark could be let go before the season starts you just never know.

I'm glad he isn't here, Dallas Clark has good hands and knows how to run a route at the TE position but he is another one of the Gonzalez type TE's in that he doesn't do well when asked to block, Tony Gonzalez admitted that it took him 12 years until he was finally able to block at a decent level as his game was always to catch the ball. I think we have a real gem in Heath Miller who plays for the team and not his own stats, he blocks better than any other TE in the league and he is reliable as a receiver, not too many that can both catch and block and Dallas Clark can't block.

Rats have both starting TE's injured so they needed one as well.

I realize that and I said that halfway in jest. But if you look at it, when we talked about signing Dennis Dixon they immediately gobbled him up. When there was some connection to Elvis Dumervil, the Ratbirds signed him. And now we have a need for a TE and Dallas Clark's name comes up...BAM! Welcome to Baltimore!

Let's be serious for a minute...what would they want with a 34 year old tight end who can't block? If they wanted him, they would have gotten him. It's not like everyone was tripping over each other to sign him before this weekend.

I think thats the point TTF. He is not really a tight end but more like a receiver and well we dont need a receiver

Yeah, I didn't think we needed another reciever either. But we'd better get ready to say hello to ... Tyler Shaw who was signed to replace Plax on the roster.

Oh it gets even better, any guesses as to what other team cut him already (see link for answer) ?? :roflmao:

Wait!!! we can still sign todd heap, that'll show'em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really think this " we could have signed him but ???? beat us to it" talk is crazy.

Think about it. Miller is gonna be off the PUP and will play week 5 if not week 4. Paulson and McCoy are here and our newest pick-up Palmer is actually a decent TE. David Johnson will be playing until Spaeth comes back. We will be okay at the position this year.

Oline is where we better start thinking about some added help!!!
