Yeah, I can't see why anybody would want to write out an explanation of the many avoidable mistakes the team made that got to this point, explaining how even a fan with no relevant professional experience saw those moves failing.

Nah. Why would that be relevant right after their season ended in another ugly playoff loss?

No, you really don't. You need a leader who manages the team. Then he needs to find an innovative coach for his offensive coordinator, something Tomlin failed to do.

It’s your incredible display of humbleness that people are having fun with.

Your opinion piece wasnt bad but not entirely correct either.

I have zero issue with you or Steel Elvis or most members of this board having a little fun with that aspect of what I wrote. I focused on the "no hindsight" point because I knew that would likely be among the first responses if I did not.

They are opinions. You are free to be wrong and disagree with them if you wish. :drinks:

    New Regime:

    HC: Mike McCarthy
    DC: Patrick Graham
OC: TBD - Lunda Wells has an interview lined up.
QB coach: Tom Arth (Tomlin holdover)
    WR coach: Adam Henry
DB coach: Gerald Alexander (Tomlin holdover)
LB coach: Scott McCurley (Tomlin holdover)
OL coach: TBD - James Campen name has been linked to them
Assistant coach: TBD - Ramon Chinyoung name has been linked to them

I’ll update this as it moves along.

This is what I expected. I hope for more name recognition but this is how it goes with new HC’s, they assemble a staff of who they know.

We’ll see how the staff shakes out but I’ve read good things about the names mentioned here so far.

Thanks for the running tally - makes it much easier to track at a glance. What anout the Special Teams coach, though? Is there anything else known at this point, beyond the announcement of Danny Smith's departure?

Yes he is our DC from Vegas!

When I think dominant Defense naturally one thinks Las Vegas Raiders.

Did more with less than our former DC. At least there’s that.

And, I’m not seeing anything official yet.

I mean to be fair I need to give him a chance with whatever our roster is. I’m more worried about this Rodgers nonsense for the love of God move on!!

So respnse to the original post, they've blown the first part of this, and refused the total reset and rebuild option, and instead opted for more of the same with some added Back to the Future (and not the good one), head in the sand, nepotism rules, Art's comfort blanket, run it back Steelers, with a 43 year old QB, Mike Mcarthy edition...

Let's see if they can salvage something from the draft or are they going to screw that up as well.

Whta chance they had a here, ton of draft capital, home of the draft, Tomlin gone, what they should have done was took their lumps this year and been in the top 10, but no, the Steelers are too stupid and deluded to do what every other medicore/poor NFL team would have done in that situation...

Art knew best, so IMO, it's 12-5 and a couple of playoff wins or bust...

Once McCarthy was named, expectations on the staff should have been tempered. Common practice to bring in guys they are familiar with when building a staff.

And to be fair we dont know how these guys will do. On paper they sound good.

I’m over my disappointment that they didnt do a complete reset and if you look at the teams and who they have hired, who among them have hired a better coach than McCarthy? The guys that fans were crushing on myself included havent landed any of these HC positions. What does that tell you.

If they bring Rodgers back that will be a real disappointment but Im steeling myself for that as well. It’s the Rooney way. Safe, low risk, churn out enough wins instead of rolling the dice on Howard and then if that crashes and burns be in good position for the 2027 draft. Or maybe Howard surprises a lot of his critics and they are set at QB for the next 15 years.

This is where I am. I have no way to predict the next moves. With Tomlin we knew tendencies of how he did things so we could make educated guesses. Now, there is no previously mapped pattern to follow. All expectations should be tempered. These guys could be more or less willing to take risks. We will find out.

If they wanted to do rebuild and reset, they would've hired a first time HC like Shula or Scheelhaase.

The transition is not complete until we find out ARod is not coming back. I would rather watch Will Howard start 17 games then to see ARod come back. Sorry for you guys that love him. Just can't do it anymore. It's time for him to hang it up.
