What’s funny, is I think Sam Darnold was considered a bust at one point, and Malik Willis.

The situation the qbs arrive in matters a lot too.

By the 6th if you have a guy who becomes a starter you have to call him a success

Only about 6% become starters

There are no 6th round busts

 

I don’t need to make peace with him I hope he does well

I just know better than to have inappropriately high expectations

Howard and Kent were both eligible to go on the IR at the same time, so no, it isn't apples to oranges. The team had to make roster decisions about both guys at the same time. That Howard might come back later in the season wasn't going to make them more likely to cut him. Howard was already there before Thompson got hurt, then Thompson was out for the season by the time Howard returned. They never had four healthy quarterbacks, so your argument makes no sense at all.

They like Howard more than they liked Oladokun, but that doesn't make their decisions regarding Howard this season in any way special.

 

Keeping him cost them nothing because they could stash him on IR. It's not like they cut Thompson later to make room for him. They never had to have four quarterbacks on the roster on a game day to keep Howard.

So again, who the hell knows what Will Howard will look like in a live NFL Game; much less look like in 2026 as a whole?! There is no information to use at all given the fact that he was injured for all of the preseason and didn't even see any time as a whole during the Regular Season. Relying on hypotheticals such as Pittsburgh beating the Browns to see what the team has in Will isn't feasible at this point either for that ultimately didn't happen.


In short?! Time will tell on how much Mike McCarthy is intrigued by Will Howard. Will could be terrible. He could shock a lot of people.


Only one way to find out.

 

Will Howard is getting unnecessary hype. Everything is working against him. 6th round pick, Ohio State QB and idiot Steelers fans jizzing over his unknown future like it should be written in as a Franchise QB.

Nothing says he will be the franchise QB. Temper your expectations and don't burn the kid if he turns out to be a dud so you can cry and whine about it to make yourself feel better.

 

well by using this boards logic mason should be twice as good as howard. 3rd round and 6th round.

Okay his scouting report is not bad ..He has actually won big games in College he has a big build and is fairly mobile..He came into camp as a Rookie and showed very well , most Rookies don't, actually most QB'S don't as the rust and all the new moving parts so navigating that means something..

AR also really likes him, he is really trying to help him and show him ,guys don't do that unless they see something ...All the Coaches they interviewed talked positively about him ...

The main knock in his scouting report was the Mental he has maybe the best pre snap QB that the NFL has ever seen.. Give him another year with AR and Will may be above average and then we should give him his shot..

I like the fact that the new HC/OC wants WR'S to be interchangeable so they can be moved around and create mis matches ,GB even moved a WR to RB to create even more mis matches ..Could we use Metcalf like that? He is 6'4 230 lbs. and runs a 4.35 Forty..That sounds RB capable to me...Then he becomes a primary check down getting him to do wat he does best .. I will bet money he gets a RB package ...

Anyway these are the things Will needs when to motion the WR into the backfield when to motion them out , what routes he wants them to run, where are the running lanes or scrambling lanes , what and where are the soft spots , how and who to use to slide protection... Will can use another season under a high IQ QB , I cant think of anyone better than AR to help mold him..
