Franco was everything to the Steelers so when he went to the seachickens it was just weird, felt real strange but we all new he had nothing left in the tank and was just trying to extend his playing career beyond reality.

Rod, man that just felt like I was punched in the gut real hard. He was still good and worthy of a starting job and he was a steeler thru and thru. A perfect fit here.

This is what I figured someone would say. I would say for me it is Mike Wallace but it hurts in a different way. It hurts in the John Cougar Mellencamp way.

They most likely use a hybrid like most teams. I'm sure they will play JH to his strengths. Those hoping JH fails this year (not saying you are one) are going to be disappointed, if he stays healthy, he will be a force.

Yeah my uncle is a Bungles fan and actually tried out for them coming out of Kent State in the late 70s and I told him that Harrison wouldn't work with them because of the 4-3 thing but he said he thinks it can work. I doubt it and I hope not.

    DIS-:this!:

JH will not be a force this year. He has not been a force since 2010. He is a 35 year old LB with bad knees, a bad back and is changing defensive schemes.

I think his best opportunity for success flew out the window when he rejected the Steelers most generous offer. :stogie:

It happened right after he refused to accept a Steeler pay cut to stay in Pittsburgh. As it turns out, that would have been more money than the Bengals ended up giving him.

Harrison: “It’s a business, and the Steelers made a business decision. I made a business decision, and we are where we’re at.”

Pompeani: “James, do you have any regrets about that decision?”

    Harrison: “No, none.”

Pompeani: “Do you think they do?”

Harrison: “I don’t know, you’d have to ask them.”

Pompeani: “But looking back, if you had to play the cards all over again, would you have accepted their offer?”

Harrison: “No, I would do it the same way.”

OMFG how stupid is he. I have no respect for him and I wish him the worst. A business decision...LOL. fu harrison

So...he'd rather play for the Bungles for less money than to play for the Steelers for more money. I hope that's just pride talking because if not, he's more of an idiot than I thought he was!

"No Comment" would be a good response to losing a million dollars not "it was a business decision and I would do it again", essentially flipping the bird to the Steelers franchise and all their fans. Or maybe just an honest "I thought I was worth more and now I want to prove I was right and everybody else in the league was wrong". But...

Does the interviewer mean, looking back with hindsight, or looking back without? Because to me, JH is answering the latter. "I would always make that decision because it was the correct business decision to do at the time."

It's not like he's going to say: "You know, I made a huge mistake coming here. I have no idea why I did. I would love to go back and play for our divisional rivals, and get away from this hole of a city."

Even if that's what he's thinking.

Favre as a Viking (direct competition with Packers, where as Chefs and 49ers different conference).

As for the Steelers - not sure which is worse - O'Donnell a Jet or Brister a Bronco. O'Donnell because of the chance the team could have had more success in 96 and 97. Brister because whenever they show him starting for an injured Elway, he just looks like a fool and you look back and think, "this was the best the Steelers had?"

And you don't think "no comment" wouldn't be torn apart by Bengal fans, his current team? Got news for you guys, we are past tense and have no bearing on anything JH related anymore, it's all about the Bengals now and that's who should be first in his mind.

You know I have tried to avoid doing this but to heck with it I am going to do it anyway. For the last time and I hope it gets through to some of you. YES! Y-E-S! It absolutely was a good business decision by James Harrison and I will explain why it is for the umpteenth time. First of all no one on here knows what the Steelers offered him. There can be no denying that fact. The Steelers have never, NEVER, commented on contract negotiations.Harrison and his agent said nothing more than the two sides had different views and were too far apart and James said it looked like he was going to get released. The amount of money everyone points to as the Steelers offer was in a story where it clearly says it is reported to be x amount of dollars in base pay with a heavily incentive laden deal that would net him slightly less than he was originally slated to make if they kept the deal he signed several years ago. No where in the story does it name anyone telling them what the deal was.

So in other words it is a Pittsburgh beat reporter saying "what can you tell me about the negotiations with James Harrison?"

    Steelers: "No comment"

Reporter: "We have been hearing rumors about a deal with x amount of base pay with some nice incentives?"

Steelers: " we dont comment on contract negotiations."

Reporter: "So we can report that there is an offer?"

    Steelers: "No Comment."

end of story yet somehow it has become Harrison thought he was worth so much more and thought he was too good for the Steelers offer. That is the part that kills me no he didn't. What it comes down to is how is he getting paid. The Bengals offered him a set base salary and guaranteed money in the form of a signing bonus. So in other words he is getting the money for showing up and doing his job no other string attached to it. Is it less than the reported amount the Steelers offered? Yes but we aren't even sure that was the offer. Next is the incentives. What were they? Obviously they weren't something James and his agent thought they could reasonably be sure that he would get and so they took the guaranteed money and not the money that was dependent on satisfying certain criteria. To put it in terms we all can understand it would be like if your job decided to pay you half your salary based on if you worked a certain number of days, how much you produced in those day, not missing any time, and hitting certain goals which you will have no say in. It may give you more money but only if you can meet all those criteria or you can take a job that pays you a set wage and a signing bonus but is less money than your current job but doesn't have any conditions on it. If you took the second job is that a bad choice?

Any way you slice it guys he is gone, get over and let it go. For some of you who have been spouting off how he is 34, going downhill and a shadow of his former self you sure care a whole lot about a guy you say is done and who has been nothing but respectful of the Steelers, his formers teammates and the organization. Its over and done move on.

Ok sorry for the long post been holding that in for awhile. Rant over please resume normal discussion.
