You don't average 10 wins a year by being just a cheerleader .

I forgot, didn't we go to two SBs, and 3 AFC Championships with him. So it worked at some point. Also, nobody can convince me in our last playoff game if we had any help from our Offense, we wouldn't have won that game.
Also so You are saying that that's all HCs have to do to not lose regular season games??? If It was that easy, don't you think more HCs would do this instead of just getting fired. Let's be realistic here now.

First of all Tomlin had a boatload of talent on those Superbowl teams. A HOF QB in his prime, an embarrassment of riches at WR. Ward, Randle El, Holmes, Wallace and the young money crew. On defense we had Troy, Clark, Porter, Harrison, Woodley, Timmons Aaron Smith etc. The Steelers team the last 7 years or so have nowhere near that talent.
Secondly the new breed of coaches lose more than they win by falling for the analytics BS. Tomlin didn't buy into that for a long time. After Ben hurt his elbow Tomlin really went conservative with his play not to lose style of coaching and it always won more than it lost. No other coach was as cautious as he was and most of them got burnt by it.

I'm not sure we have any good play makers on offense. Maybe DK. Hopefully we have someone who can throw him the ball.

The D has some good names, but they are long in the tooth.

Tomlin has lots of faults. But he's constructed a system that below average teams to the playoffs (and then gets slaughtered against good teams).

I think this is what Rooney wants (no meaningless regular seasons games).

But it's a double edged sword. Because of the getting totally outclassed in the playoffs part.

This is a LARGE mistake, unless there is an upfront deal with one
of the 2 Rams assistants to take over in not too distant future..
The Rooney's have lost all the respect I had for them.

Let's not be too quick to judge yet. Let's let it play out, and see.
I personally wouldn't have hired him, but then I'm not a millionaire, and I don't run the show.

I don't either but I am allowed to have an opinion a local who has been
watching the Steelers for over 55 years. This is a gut punch to me.

I tried saying we didn't have a clue how they would go, or do. Everyone was basing things on people that are dead now, and the people running the show now had nothing to do with the last 3 HCs(Noll, Cowher, and Tomlin)that had been hired, but people don't listen. LoL

Of course you have a opinion, and I didn't state anywhere you didn't. As a guy that has been a huge fan of the team since the 70s , I like to wait, and see. I remember people saying Bradshaw wouldn't ever be good enough, that Cowher would never win the big games, that Troy P was a injured midget, and that Tomlin would fail miserably. So I tend to wait, and see. I'm not a fan of Mccarthy, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt until he shows otherwise here.

I'm not willing to play this out. I'm taking my time, entertainment value and money elsewhere. If they want to do business like the Pirates, then I intend on treating them like the Pirates.

Lets see, I watch 5 Pirates games a year and even less Pitt games. I've found giving up on teams that I've adored since I've been 4 less stressful. Steelers will probably be harder to give up on, but living 2600 miles away from home makes it easier. I'm not waking up to watch 10am football for this. Art II is worse than Nutting. At least Art II has the benefit of a salary cap and revenue sharing. I have better things to do than waking up to a Steelers franchise that's afraid of doing what it takes to win championships. Art II just wants 10-7/9-8 football. He said as much a week ago.

If the new HC doesn't have a playoff win in his first contract, it's not gonna get extended. Unless this org has completely gone off the rails.
He wants to fill seats for 17 weeks, not just one or two postseason games. This is the way to do it. The real question is whether fans will be fooled again by his approach.

Look, we can already see how this is going to go. I actually feel sorry for McCarthy because this shîtstorm isn't his fault. The first sign of trouble there will be fire McCarthy chants. He'll be lucky to live out this contract and just might end up being Pete Carroll of the Raiders.
