Tj was amazing but no d player sis worth as much as he makes. We spend too
Much on defense and they don’t stop anyone with a pulse. Bad gm and owner. Roster design is a joke and reason we suck on offense. Odd we are #1 spending on d and no where near best d on league.

I wonder if its crazy talk to have Cam play nose tackle for a year or two which at the very least he can use his leverage to push and disrupt. Something I wish Dan McCullers did. Just blow up and occupy the center or two guys if the Oline played zone blocking.

    1. Yep, the Barry Sanders rule.

    2. Mostly right - if the team wins arbitration for recouping a portion of the signing bonus, that amount is returned to their cap.

    3. True, all base salary (guaranteed or not), roster bonuses, etc. are forfeited with a retirement.

    4. If the team wins the arbitration case, that money would be returned to their cap. That said, as the contract currently stands the org would take on $30M in dead money while saving $12M to their 2026 cap if labeled a pre-June 1st transaction; a post-June 1st designation would result in $10M of dead money and $32M returned to their cap in 2026, and $20M in dead money and $22M in savings in 2027.

Stats tell a pretty consistent story on edge rushers, they're production starts declining when they hit 30-31. You can look at LT, Mark Gasteneau, now TJ, story is pretty much the same

Watt will stay, I doubt he retires. We can only hope his greatly deminished play is due to coming of that early season 2024 injury and he hadn't fully recovered.

You can argue about being chipped or doubled (he was, but not at past rates), he still produced before December 2024. Since then, he has been almost invisible. There is no disputing that. At best, an average, OLB/DE. His speed and agility were his calling cards. Speed appears dimished and if it is, he's never going to be better than average again...sadly. Still startable, still playable, no longer a game wrecker, and he is paid to be one, so he's now a bust signing and we'll have to hope Khan can work around it.

Watt had better stop the stupid needling and maybe just get back to basics this off-season.

This is all you need to know.
Spotrac says dead cap is $94 million for 2026 and $52 million if 2027.

Before all the trade talk can begin you first have to explain away the dead cap space. It is funny, I just watched a video on how the Steelers were going to trade Watt, and they never brought up Watt's dead cap money; how stupid is that?

How is getting a treatment by the staff at the Steelers facility after having some discomfort at practice somehow his fault?

He was getting a treatment to help with a problem he was having. The professionals performing the procedure screwed up and Watt and punctured his lung, his lung collapsed, he was taken to the hospital, he requited surgery, and the team paid the price.

Hopefully Watt just had a down year and will rebound.

With that much of a cap hit, I don’t think he is going anywhere in the next year or two.

Also, coming off a down year, there won’t be much in way of trade value (especially for an OLB over 30).

TJ is still a player, he's just not the force he used to be.

That's where a compitent DC comes into play and uses what skills Watt has left smartly.
