I have never been to any of the Steeler Stadiums so I was interested on your opinion on the acoustics.
In the architect defense they may have been told that optics were the priority in the views you can see.
Im not local but were there ever discussion on closing the stadium by the endzone?
    Thoughts?

The next stadium and all new stadiums in the NFL should have to be a dome.

Why? There's a huge home field advantage for teams playing in the cold.

Domed teams are just 2-15 in sub-freezing temperatures during the postseason.

Dome stadiums are an affront to the football gods. No one should be allowed to propose a domed stadium without being struck by a lightning bolt.

Three Rivers was LOUD! I will never forget a 1997 game vs the Jaguars. Kordell threw a pass to Bettis to win in overtime. The stadium was so loud it actually got to a sound level where it was silent. I have been to more games than I can even remember, and I have never heard anything like it. It was like being at a decibel level your ears cant handle.

Heinz Field gets loud too, but it doesn't trap the sound the way Three Rivers did.

Agreed that 3 Rivers was loud and the whole "Here We Go Steelers Here We Go" would work perfectly, 100% in unison. At Heinz, it sounds like we are singing in the round. My pet peve at Heinz is that there is too much stadium nonsense announcements made during the game....crowd into it then there is a public service announcemnt or something and the whole "another steelers first down" makes me crazy. I cheer for touchdowns...there are times during the game where 1st downs are important like end of the halves when you are running out the clock but every first down wtf.

    3 rivers was much louder

The view is good from Heinz Field

They will not close the end zone no need to plus it would be difficult and expensive

I never made it to Three Rivers, but finally went to Heinz Field (will always be Heinz to me) in 2019 for the Monday night game against the Dolphins. Ben was out with the elbow, and we had just traded for Minkah. he balled out that game with two picks, I think. My view was great, and I was in the upper decks on the South (Steelers) side, around the 5-yard line of the closed end. You can see the whole field fine, and the view of downtown through the opening is amazing. Don't ever close it!!

Here is a TD run from James Conner from my seat. Edit, that didn't work, supposed to be a link to a video LOL. Stand by. :roflmao::facepalm:

Ok, just a view of the field from my seat.

They sort of closed in the one end now... it does get loud there and opposing teams have messed up or called timeouts at times as a result, but the crowd needs to be really into it.

I can't see them ever adding a top section to the open end though. people like standing on the ramps for the game too much.

I went to M&T Bank Stadium once (I will never go again after getting heckled all game), the stadium is a deep vertical bowl shape and it gets super loud. Perfect acoustics for that type of thing. I would say M&T is a more intimidating place to play.

Our current stadium is just okay.

It is nothing in comparison to the new NFL stadiums.

There is much to be desired. Ten ideas in no particular order.

    1. Name is Art Rooney I stadium after the chief. No Acrisure stadium. It is a family business.

    2. Create a new row of seats starting at 10 yards from the bench. The rich fans will pay to see the sound and fury of football up close. About say 3,000 seats.

    3. Add a row of seats ( says the 600 section ) and make them cheaper family seats. Say an extra 5,000 seats.

    https://acrisurestadium.com/stadium/seating-charts/

    4. Add cheerleaders, but confine them to half time and outside the stadium to greet the fans.

    5. Create a parking lot more conducive for tailgating.

    6. Reserve some seats for Steeler fans on welfare. Say about 50 a game. Seat them in the 600 section

    7. Give the fans 15 minutes delay of the halftime speeches by the coaches, shown on a tv station owned by the Steelers in an edited PG version.

    8. And since I am anti stadium food due to their outrageous costs, open a costco like food court outside the stadium. What is it, $9.00 for a hot dog these days?

    9. Invite all players with 5 or more years of service to the parking lot for free autographs, and allow the fans to " rent a X player " for tailgating. You will get some x players who are willing to do this. it a dirty little secret that 70% of the NFL player has little net worht 5 years from exiting the NFL.

    10. Put an NFL experience like an area for the fans in the parking lot where one can run a 40 yard dash, throw the football, kick field goals, punt, snap, and throw a footballs at dummies of the opposing team we are playing. But a person must sign a strict waiver for injuries.

    -JB

Free ideas for Mr. Rooney who reads team related fan suggestions. I was told this by Bob Labrioa, the editor of Steelers digest. Maybe he reads this one.

Stole my thunder! I am grateful I had the experience several times to see games there. Also was there to witness the implosion. Sad day for sure.

If and when they build a new stadium I believe unfortunately it will be outside of the city.

I too would like a dome but probably not the reason everyone else does. I would
Love to have a superbowl in Pittsburgh and think that’s the other way we would ever get one.

    1. Who wants to sit in the rain, snow or 100°.
    2. I don't want to see my team in the Playoffs and they can't play at there best because it's too foggy or windy.

I know purists will always prefer an outdoor stadium in the elements. But the older I get, the less I enjoy attending games when the temps are below about 35 degrees. Seems like no matter how warmly I dress, I'm frozen to the core by halftime!

I'd welcome a dome for the friendly ambient temps/weather and for the possibility of one day hosting a super bowl. Though, I realize this will never happen in Pittsburgh.
