I’d be quite happy with Stefanski who would likely bring in a strong DC with him.

I’d be surprised if it’s not a defensive minded coach however, one of Flores or Shula most likely.

No, seriously. Explain why you think it matters that he coached for another team in the division. Forget the rest of it and try explaining that nonsensical argument. Who the hell cares that he coached a rival? James Harrison was on the roster of division rivals before the Steelers got him. DeShon Elliott played for the Ravens before becoming the Steelers' best safety last year. Explain this brilliant argument you have against that.

There are good arguments to be made against Stefanski, but the fact that he previously coached a division rival isn't one of them.

I'll be truthful to you. Harbaugh is signing a $100 million contract at $20 million per year, so I would expect Stefanski to go for about $15+ million per year.

The Steelers are not going to pay a NEW coach that much, look for them to go Cheap and sign a young unproven kid for around $5 million per year. Steelers are cheap where they can be. They don't even own their own practice facility.



I have been thinking about creating a new thread "Over or Under $10 million a year for the new Head Coach", but I am sure @jeh1856 would throw a fit.

I think that’s a little misguided. Bill Belichick didn’t succeed in Cleveland. That place is a hell hole. Stefanski is in Atlanta now and Arthur Blank is 10 times the owner there. Less pressure and a team with some good offensive talent. He is perfect there.

 

Agree, this is a good hire for Atlanta IMO, albeit they probably don’t have a QB with Penix / Cousins on the roster, and the Rams own their first round pick so he is going to need time.

Depending on his record vs the division it would be a big deal. If a HC can't win in the division why would you consider him for the job?
