unfortunately bengals looked good last night

hate em but they did look good... and what about josh johnson... isnt he the guy we released.... i liked him with the steelers and he seems to be the bengals #2 guy? he played a lot last night and looked good ..

You mean like James Harrison?

 

The steelers didn't necessarily drop Harrison. He was asked to take a pay cut and was offered essentially a new deal. JH turned his head at it, and eventually took less money than we offered him to play in cincy. Yes the steelers did release him though.

 

Both the Bengals and the Ratbirds looked much better than the Steelers in their pre-season debuts.

I was thinking about the times that I've seen us come out and look truly "ready" ya know? The only two times I can think of where I would say that we came out ready to go for the jugular was the game against the Pats a few years ago where Ben destroyed that defense all day long and the other one is when we played the Rats last year with Batch. Other than that I'm coming to the conclusion that Tomlin's teams just do not come out with the fire in the belly on a consistent basis. I can not for the life of me understand why.

 

A lot of teams look good in the preseason. That doesn't translate to looking good during the season.

 

I think a lot of times when Manning was with the Colts that they rarely won a preseason game BUT they came out swinging in the regular season and I hope we can do the same.

 

Wasn't it in 05 that the Steelers went undefeated in the preseason and then stumbled out of the gate in the first four games?

 

No I was thinking we actually did good in those first few weeks and then Ben got hurt and so I went and looked and that was right. I do remember that people wrote us off that year though because we were the last seed and all that and everyone thought the Colts were gonna be the champs and when we lost to them on MNF in the locker room Cowher said he thought we would be back and it would turn out different and he was right. I just wish he also would have predicted the Bus's fumble on the goal line as well because I think it literally took years off my life. LOL.
