Rooney just sucks - let's be honest. Cheap clown - won't pay for the best - including a GREAT OC and DC coordinator....get just to average while he owns this team.

Tomlin was a problem.....but ROONEY is the BIGGEST one.....

Lets hire Mike McDaniel while were at it too.

 

I would not object to Stefanski. He can coach offense, develop young QBs, etc... and he would hire a good DC. Browns organization is a black hole gravity well singularity where everything goes to die.

 

I am for it. However, I believe that Art does not like baggage. He likely wants a fresh face who has no past demons. However, in this cycle he may have to reach for a Stefanski or someone with staff building experience because unlike 19 years ago and before that this new head coach will need to build the staff and therefore set the new direction and the approach for the football team.
Since Art does not expect major roster overhaul and expect to compete in 2026, Stefanski maybe the most impressive candidate.
And if the direction is NFCW, it just maybe Shula and Scheelhaase.

Why a long list of coaches who in subsequent gigs have won super bowls? Reid, Bill B, Coughlin, Carroll, Chucky, etc.

 

Certainly there have been some, but let’s compare your list against the list of retreads who went on to do nothing. I suspect one list is significantly longer than the rest.

 

Stefanski makes too much sense. Made crap QBs descent. He is an offensive coach [mod edit]. He has zero shot of getting job.
Flores will be here in a week or two. We can spend some more free agent money of a rotten defense and finish 26th on offense again.

FWIW, coach of the year is all about defying expectations.

Since (as OP says) CLE sucks, it's easier for them to get coach of the year. Because expectations are very low there.

Am I repressing the memories of them beating us in the playoffs? You bet I am.

i don't read every thread....I just did not see him in the coach poll thread......nor was he discussed in there....

 

I didn't put former HCs in the poll because the Steelers haven't hired one in their last 3 HC hires. If they hire a former HC or a new coach over 40 years old as a first-time HC, I will be surprised.

 

Mike McDaniel was fired as the head coach of the Dolphins. He is now looking for a job.

have not had a strong 3 headed monster in MANY years.

 

so - I suggested: he can beat the Ravens, we know. he can beat Cincy, we KNOW. and he will relish beating the Browns 2x a year. he has had OUR number for the past few years, taking us to bell and beating the vaunted STEELERS.

have yet to hear WHY NOT look at him.

CLE is DUMB to have fired him.....but that what they do!

No doubt but if they go that route its gotta be grade A not mid but I'm for the new young guy but I'm not for 20 years if they don't make headway in short order.
