Nobody wants to listen to a man that used to soil himself on the field

Jeh I know that but the issue with our field is it seems to be torn up a lot and not really stable. It gives way easily which can lead easily to hamstring injuries. Many times during the season you have whole areas that loose and footing is terrible. Too bad we can't get Pitt out of there. I wish a stat guy would analyze where our injuries have taken place home vs away, turf vs grass etc. Just tough to keep the grass in good shape with the amount of play on that field.

When combining injuries for the 2021 and 2022 seasons (N = 718 injuries), the incidence rate of lower extremity injury was 1.22 injuries/game for natural grass and 1.42 injuries/game for artificial turf. The odds of a season-ending surgery were found to be significantly higher on artificial turf compared with natural grass (odds ratio = 1.60; 95% CI, 1.28-1.99; P < .05), while additional variables, including weather, age, position, week of injury occurrence, and history of prior injury, did not influence the odds of season-ending surgery.

    Just to repeat

The odds of a season-ending surgery were found to be significantly higher on artificial turf compared with natural grass

Yes to Pitt moving but it probably isn’t happening there is no place for them to go

They blew it when they didn’t rebuild old Pitt stadium

I went to grad school where you could walk to games and it was a great student atmosphere

yes I know the science that backs it, but no way to add in the variable of ****ty turf not being stable. Likely those studies were done where you don't simultaneously have two teams playing on the field int he same season and further add in some local high school playoff games like we had one season (have no idea if that still occurs). That's the variable that makes our field **** and wonder, but will never know, if it has contributed to some of the injuries we had. Ok I killed that side topic.

FYI the playoff games are there every year

But they replace the turf immediately after

Yeah that sucks when you lay new sod down in takes real time for the roots to anchor the turf. You can see when they replace it how it rips all in areas. That's hammy, andkle and even knee injury waiting to happen because the bio-mechanic science behind when an athlete plants his foot what the body sort of expects that the force is anchored like sliding out from you. Any hoot, its what we have. Last bit, I always seem to notice when we play on turf we just look faster in all respects. Then again when turf grabs the foot and doens't let the foot release when expected you get all kinds of injuries like achilles and ACL **** as the force travels up the body. So its still probably better long haul for grass. Ok back to the thread.

Although this is obviously a jokey suggestion, to be fair, Todd probably was, unironically, the last above average OC the Steelers have had post-Arians.

No one wants to hire his DC becuase the defense got destroyed anytime they played a team with a pulse.
