The last significant hiring movement with the draft pick rule in mind was around the 2024 season, when the league saw a record nine minority head coaches, including Jerod Mayo (Patriots), Raheem Morris (Falcons), and Antonio Pierce (Raiders), following incentives where teams get draft picks for developing minority coaches who get hired elsewhere. The New England Patriots recently hired Jerod Mayo in early 2024, satisfying their Rooney Rule interviews, and the Las Vegas Raiders hired Antonio Pierce in late 2023, both contributing to the high number of minority coaches entering the 2024 season under the updated rules.
Key Details about the Rule & Recent Hires:
    • Draft Pick Incentive: The NFL rewards teams with third-round compensatory picks for two years if they lose a minority coach or top executive to another team as a head coach or GM.
    • 2024 Season Milestone: The 2024 season started with a record nine minority head coaches, including Mayo, Morris, Pierce, Tomlin, Bowles, Ryans, McDaniel, Saleh, and Canales, reflecting progress from rule changes.

Imagine going on an opinion based message board and getting all butthurt if someone doesn't share your same opinion. I mean, if they don't agree with you they must be making sh!t up right?

Chris Shula with a strong OC could certainly work. A lot to like there. Though Ramsey isn't a cornerstone of anything except missed tackles and blown coverages.

Wouldn’t hate Stefanski personally, he is a damn good coach, albeit having two COTY awards is probably flattering.

I’d be especially interested if he could coax Bill Callahan to come with him as Oline Coach. He did a good job with the Browns line when he was there with Stefanski.

you still haven’t shown where an nfl team is hiring someone to give another team picks. Your opposition gains something not you.

I know he’s said he’s not going anywhere, however, Marcus Freedom fits the mold perfectly IMO.

    Wishful thinking though.

To be fair the NE Patriots just went Defensively for a HC so it may not be an offensive league much longer so long as Gooddell is still in charge. I’m only half kidding.

I’m fairly certain we’ve seen the last of them.

New head coaches almost always implement their own staff.

Reports were that Titans asked for permission to interview Smith, he may leave on his own.

I think the Steelers have more than satisfied their obligation to that rule by hiring Tomlin and then standing by him for 20 years.

They will pick the candidate they feel is best for the job.

The Steelers promoted the Rooney Rule in 2007 when they hired Tomlin. They should not have any stipulations on this hire. Tomlin, like Noll and Cowher before him, proved he was a leader of men. That still should be the blueprint for the Steelers coach.

Not to mention how great it would be to stick it to Cleveland if Stefanski comes here and we start winning.

Arthur Smith is likely going anyways whether or not Tennessee hires him as you said. Doesn't matter that much to me regardless. As me and @HeinzMustard@HeinzMustard have been saying all year, this team needs a wholesale purge.

May I ask where it says this?! I am not finding that anywhere based on the updated Rooney Rules.

It's been a few years, but if I remember correctly, the chatter down here was that Flores wasn't on board with the Tua pick, which may have sparked all the drama that followed. But who knows, rumors and chatter.

I would not be surprised if the Steelers take a hard look at him, though.

It’s one thing to have an opinion. It’s something entirely different when that opinion is stated as fact

Well, we don't have the backbone of Arians and LeBeau this time around. This will be a longer hiring process to sort through all the permutations and combinations.

Would be the ultimate FU to the Browns if they came here and were successful.
