If we have someone who is trying to win and score lots of points --i will not be upset with a few losing seasons -we need excitement ---not hum-drum same old :poopy::poopy::poopy::poopy::poopy::poopy::poopy::poopy::poopy::poopy:

I think the chants weighed on him. Good work Steeler Nation.

Wouldn’t it be funny if Tomlin ends up being the first coaching hire to get exactly what Hairball is demanding? Another thorn in his side

Respect for Mike for doing immediately. Also thank him for all he’s done. That being said, it was time. Can’t keep getting dominated in the playoffs.

I see a couple people saying the job isn’t as attractive as some people say. I disagree. I think it’s the most attractive job opening. This is a historic franchise known for coaching stability. Just my two cents.

    Crazy news!

Will go back and read the thread, but wanted to get my initial thoughts here.

Just got out of some busy stuff at work and saw the news.

    Honestly can't believe it.

Excited about the prospect of big changes in the offseason.

Will be really interested to see if they go with someone more well known or if they go off the board like they did with the Cowher and Tomlin hires.

I think that I hope they follow the same process as before. Young coach with upside. Surround him by good to great coordinators and mold him into a good coach.

Anybody check in on Ryan Clark? Might need to take his shoelaces and belt away for a bit.

My issue is his staffing decisions. O-line coach needs to go as well as both coordinators. Smith was a terrible hire for a coordinator. The game is not played that way.

I think most people will be patient with a new coach especially if they play better at the end of the season than the beginning. I'm old enough to remember Chuck Noll's first year when they went 1-13. Sometimes you have to take a couple steps back before you move forward.

we have wasted 5 years post Ben never truly rebuilding.

Is Howard the guy they get behind?

We will see what the Brass think....

I definitely tip my cap to him and all that he gave to the organization over the years. I don't besmirch the early success he had, and despite the game appearing to have passed him by in more recent times, it was never for a lack of effort. He wanted to bring home a championship as much as anybody else. And for as much as it was overplayed in the media at times, ringing up 19 straight seasons of .500 ball or better is no small feat.

That all said, it was past time for both sides. I wish him the best, and look forward to seeing what direction the club goes over the next few months.

It's going to be an adjustment not hearing CK talk about Bags Tomlin anymore.

No. I won’t miss him. If we go 6-11 multiple seasons then maybe.
