a later 1st round pick in the draft.... this is why this team is a perpetually mediocre team. the fact that tomlin and the front office are afraid of a losing season is exactly why nothing changes as long as tomlin is here.

if i'm rooney i'm was on the phone to the giants looking to trade tomlin. but i bet his trade value is nil now.

does getting tomlin out of the picture a certainty to make a change in the right direction? i don't know but doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome is the definition of insanity.

say whatever you want about me...say i'm a fair weather fan...say i'm a negative nancy...say whatever you want. you know as well as i do that what i am stating is the truth.

You wanted the Steelers to...intentionally lose three more games?

Afraid of a losing season—so Tomlin and the Rooneys should say here’s a plan, let’s intentionally go 7-10 ? I’m not saying we don’t need a top down change, but I damn sure don’t want to ever lose.

no i did not want the steelers to lose 3 more games. my point is that the sting of having a losing season isn't any more or less than having a winning season and getting embarrassed in the first round of the playoffs again.

had they made a change at head coach might have meant a losing season but it could have set the team up with better draft positioning to draft better talent as opposed to continuing to draft later in the draft. i've wanted to see a change at head coach for several years at minimum and so many shout from the rooftops "be careful what you wish for"... but this constant drafting at 20 or later because mr. i've never had a losing season does nothing but keep them drafting late in the draft. having a winning season and losing in the first round of the playoffs doesn't give them any benefit. mediocrity and being stagnant with no losing seasons and a first round exit just helps keep them mediocre/

i know drafting earlier doesn't guarantee you getting a serious game changer but it apparently can help your chances of getting one.

Screw the draft! Big F----- deal if you have a high draft pick. Brady, Montana, Purdy and tons of others say F the draft.

It’s true but those are exceptions. We have had too long of a streak picking in the middle, eventually catches up imo.

Teams can trade up to get players they believe are stars. KC did it to get Mahomes. You don't need to go 2-15 for an early pick. We're currently, just not good at building the team nor coaching it. Change is needed and it should start with Tomlin. Would be nice to hear the owner say that this is not acceptable.

I don't ask to tank but they need to take a step back, play and trust the young players no matter what and look at the bigger picture

I dont think the OP is stating to purposely lose, he’s saying dont be afraid of losing keep you from making a change at HC and hes right.

If the only difference is better draft position that will help you make real changes to the roster than so be it.

Of course thats not the plan when hiring a new HC, you hope for the results you are seeing in NE and Chicago.
