The only update of Brown that I've seen came from SD "now on crutches".

I don't know much about medicine, (nor did I spend last night at a Holiday Inn Express), but with multiple people here saying a break might be prefered, would it theoretically be better to just break the ankle? What seperates a sprain from a break?

There's so many variables involved with sprains and breaks. If it's a grade 3 sprain, where you've completely torn a ligament, you're going to be sidelined for a long time. As a general rule though, you don't want broken bones in your ankle. Especially considering that many 'ankle breaks' involve more than just one bone being cleanly broken. There's 3 bones that come together, and multiple ligaments involved.

'sprained...1979, still hurts...to cut on it'

There's an old man joke there, somewhere, but, I ain't goin' there.:smiley1:
The sprain is 34 years old!
The sprain remembers the Pirates last World Series win.
    OK, went there, a bit.

Thanks, Mac, for the link. Maybe everyone would feel better if they offered him $7 mil/yr to stay here for one good season. The body of work was not deep enough to cancel out the sometimes boneheaded mistakes and inconsistent play until the middle of last season. If he put up another quality season, then maybe he could write his own ticket. If he crapped out after he got the money, he'd be referred to as "Woodley Jr." on this board.

I think it was 1980 I jumped off of the slide for life at Parris Island. 35 feet high into three feet of water. You know that little hole in the middle of your butt? Well THAT HURT when I hit. To this day I move my foot, my ankle cracks and carries on. I did run my platoon back to the barn that day. Didn't give out on me till two hours after contact.

In a positive sign, Mike Tomlin says he's assuming Curtis Brown's injury isn't too serious. He says he doesn't have any details on it. I suppose that implies that he gets details on the bad injuries, and since he doesn't have details, therefore it must not be bad.

Seems kinda odd to me, because you'd think he'd want to be up to date on all injuries, but whatever.

K Lewis looked good enough to me to warrant a serious effort to keep him.

    Ah cheer up, Gay's back!

As for Brown he needs the reps so hopefully he is not out long term. Gay played pretty well his last year in Pittsburgh. I liked his signing. As for Lewis to me you have to be smart in where you spend your money. He is a solid corner but is he worth what NO gave him? Plus he gets to play where he grew up. Can't fault a guy for going home. I will trust that the front office made the right decision on Lewis. Brown's injury will be water under the bridge once Allen is back practicing.
