CJ Stroud hasn't had a good year... though a down year isn't Terrible.
They really haven't run the ball as well as one would think they should.
I don't think it's a big secret that they have gotten to where they are by playing solid defense, and not turning the ball over a lot.
They will do this tonight with added adrenaline.

On our side, we aren't particularly great at anything and seem to find ways to win in different ways.
We have to protect Rogers from those DE's of Houston's.

This would be a huge win if we can pull it off.

So far in this postseason QBs have 280 yds rushing. Stafford with the low = 0 yds (2 atts), Maye with the most; 10 att = 66 yds. Average = 31 yds.

    It's a young man's game.

Excellent post man I agree wholeheartedly. I don’t know how our offense will be able to move the ball for scores without short fields.

I think the key tonight is third and manageable. It doesn't have to be about big plays, but the Steelers need to stay on pace. Slow and steady. Stay away from penalties and negative plays, which means A-A-Ron has to avoid holding onto the ball and taking sacks. Utilize everyone, especially the TEs who can get that quick 5-7 yard gain to ease the pressure.

On D, avoid the big play. This front should be able to contain the running game. Have to avoid the Zay Flowers standing alone with nobody within ten yards type scenario. Nico Collins is their big play receiver and Dalton Schultz is the productive TE. Without the threat of a Derrick Henry, the D should be able to pay attention to the passing game without the same fear of getting destroyed by the run.

Just please don't fall behind right away like previous debacles. Nothing more deflating than a quick deficit.

According to teamrankings.com, we're fourth with an opponent winning percentage of .286 in close games (I didn't see what constituted 'close'). San Fran (.143) is tops, followed by New England (.200) and Denver (.220). Houston is 11th (.375).

Positive means the team created more turnovers than it gave away, so this statement is wrong.

These are all games played against playoff teams from this year:
    Seahawks (L) 0 Turnover Differential
    Patriots (W) +4 TD
    Packers (L) -1
    Chargers (L) -3
    Bears (L) 0
    Bills (L) 0

Steelers were -4 (spread across 5 games) in losses against playoff teams.

I had some bad math and I missed counted. But your numbers say they were a net 0 over playoff teams.

Memory shaky but it is rare Steelers do that. I remember years ago we totally dominated Carolina. Might have been a Monday night?????

We had a playoff game like that vs Miami. We scored to AB twice, and then went down the field exclusively handing off to Bell for a third straight TD. That one was firmly in hand pretty much at kickoff.

Just read where the backup QB for Texans, Davis Mills who went 3-0 this year when CJ was out injured and looked really good in their W vs Bills, is supposedly out tonight for undisclosed reasons. The next up QB is an unknown rookie Graham Mertz (Fred & Ethel's kid?). So..............anyone else seeing a Kimo von Oelhoffen opportunity tonight? Nothing major mind you, just for tonight after the first series. Then he can bounce back tomorrow. :hmm:

HOU allowed the 3rd fewest 1-7 yard pass plays in the NFL this season. They play press man, are very sticky, and great tacklers. Meanwhile the Steelers defense allowed the 6th most plays of the same.

HOU is a bad matchup for the Steelers. Would much rather have played BUF or NWE.

I think the Steelers defense has a chance to hold the Texans' offense down. I like this matchup more than facing Josh Allen and the Bills that have repeatedly whooped the Steelers.

I like the way the team used the other weapons without Metcalf. They need to continue to use the other options, and it will create more one-on-one matchups for Metcalf.

I don't know if we'll win but I am confident it won't be like the past. I do believe halfway through 4th quarter it will be anybody's game.

    Right.
But you specifically mentioned “losses against playoff teams”, so I assumed there was some reason you wanted to exclude the win vs NE.
