    George HW Bush was President.

Aaron Rodgers was seven years old

Mike Tomlin was a 19 year old wide receiver at William and Mary

Star Trek The Next Generation was the highest rated TV show

Dances With Wolves won the Oscar foe Best Picture

Gasoline cost about $1.05 a gallon

The Pirates outfield was Bonds, Bonilla, and Van Slyke

I will add more as I find interesting factoids. It has been a long time.

I couldn't watch Star Trek Next Generation until the mid 90's.. when the reruns were syndicated. Our cheesy rural cable provider didn't have the UPN channel... United Paramount Network Channel.

LoL. That sucks. I had it, but only caught a episode here, or there because I was never home during that time, and I didn't actually watch all of them until maybe 11 years ago.

I actually didn’t see it until the early 2000’s. My son was little and we watched it together. When it got good, it got REALLY good.
Much later his mom and I took him to several conventions and he met most of TNG cast and some of TOS cast.
In the bravest act of my life, I stood next to William Shatner while wearing a red shirt.
My son is a high school teacher now and has developed courses on the history of the space program.

Ok, as I have mentioned before- in 1991 I was there!

It was my second in person Steelers game and first and only at Three Rivers. I bought the ticket from the team. I sat in the lower level at around the 20 yard line. The guy I sat next to was a lifer who had been to all the 70s Super Bowl wins. He told me that the seat I was in usually was a comp from Steelers assistant coach Jed Hughes.

That night was Neil O'Donnell's coming out party. He rallied the Steelers from a 20-0 halftime deficit. Unfortunately, Gary Anderson's kickoff went out of bounds and the Giants used the short field for the winning FG.

I was back the next night to see the Pirates lose game six 1-0 to the Braves, when Andy Van Slyke whiffed with the winning runs on base.

You have your Star Trek shows confused.

TNG and DS9 were always syndicated.

UPN didn’t exist until a year after TNG finished. (You may be thinking about VOY, which was a flagship program when UPN started up.)

I was able to watch Voyager on one of my included cable channels... not UPN. I started Voyager in '97... but they showed reruns of first two seasons, so I could catch up. Can't remember the channel. I never had access to TNG until 1994. I remember it clearly because I was listening to new albums at the time....Superunknown- Soundgarden, Jar of Flies- AIC

    Not even close.

As a syndicated show, it had a fraction of the possible audience compared to the standard networks. It wasn’t even in the top 30. (Top rated were 60 Minutes, Rosanne, Murphy Brown, and Cheers.)

I don't recall TNG ever being a #1 show and, I guarantee, gas wasn't $1.05 here in CA!

Coaches first words on this point is it means zero.zero. In fact if you even think about that stat you are not going into the game with an edge. Can we for once cone out not flat and look like the opening day of the college football season where everyone is amped up.

Yes. Both me and my son. Two interesting things about The Shat: 1)Taller than I expected, probably 5’9 or so. No special footwear, flat loafers. 2) I hate to confess this, but when getting in place for the photo, I bent over while scooting my chair closer for the photo, in order to get a close look at the Shat’s scalp. I was within four inches of it. IT IS NOT A TOUPEE. I saw growing hair coming out of a scalp, and no edge of a toupee base. I knew exactly what to look for. I think he wore a toupee at one time but has had extensive hair transplants. Dude can afford it.
This was done to settle one ofmthe world’s great mysteries once and for all.

You are correct about St TNG. The top rated show in 1991 was 60 Minutes, followed by Roseanne. AI led me astray.
The price of gasoline is correct. I have not driven in Cal in some time. Drove Pacific Coast Highway. Bixby Creek Bridge is spectacular.

I checked and gas her in '91 was 1.14/gal. That was obviously before all our stupid taxes!

Seeing that old Pirate outfield brought tears to my eyes.

    Thanks Bob.

I had the opposite reaction. Since he was always shot heroically on the show, for some reason thought he was taller.
But I am tall enough I was going to look down on him, no matter what.
(When "Into Darkness" came out, a local theater did a re-screening of "Wrath of Khan" and arranged a visit from The Shat to sign autographs and take pictures.)
