Should Watt hold the single-season sack record?

By Jared Allen's logic, yes, T.J. Watt should hold the record.

    https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/articl...hould-be-tied-with-browns-star-194208138.html

Allen claims that he was unfairly stripped of a sack in 2011, the year he had 22. Aaron Rodgers backed up his claim. When Allen's Vikings played the Packers, Rodgers dropped the ball, picked it back up, and Allen chased him down for a sack. It was later ruled a team sack, taking one away from Allen. Rodgers has said he agrees with Allen's take.

"You are the all-time single-season sack leader, I don't care what the numbers say," Rodgers said. "Because that phantom, bulls*** sack they took away from you would give you the record. So, in my book, and probably in most Vikings fan's books, you're the all-time single-season sack leader, my friend."

What Rodgers and Allen don't seem to know is that Watt had a sack taken away from him on the same sort of play against the Ravens in the final game of the 2021 season, when he finished with 22.5 sacks. Tyler Huntley dropped a snap, recovered, then got up and ran with it. Watt then tackled him for what should have been a sack.

So, by Allen's logic, Watt should have been credited with 23.5 sacks in 2021, giving him the record all to himself. I'm also sick of people saying Watt did it in 17 games. He didn't. He missed two games that year, so he did it in 15.

The response to that from the Myles camp is that he did it in far less snaps.

Allen didnt even chase him down, Rodgers fell on the ball and Allen went over and touched him basically, think he jumped on him but the point is, Rodgers was on the ground. That call they probably got right, Watt’s they completely flub.

The funny thing is that by arguing that they don't realize they are pointing out that Garrett is a far inferior all-around defender who isn't on the field for many snaps because of it.

Then why bother to comment on the thread?

Watt did just show up in a win-or-go-home game, in case you didn't notice.

He really didn’t do much. Caught a ball that had a lucky bounce into his arms. Almost had Lamar on that 4th down though before he hit Likely.

I agree him and Cam better show up Monday Night.

Didn't Watt have a TD in a Playoff game, or Am I mistaken??
I also believe that last week's game was as close to a playoff game as a regular season game can get. Win Your still in, Lose You go home. I like you would like to see domination by Watt Monday night.

That put the Steelers up 7-0 if I remember correctly. I went to grab a beer and when I came back it was 35-7 KC.

That wasn't the only time he put pressure on the quarterback and he was also part of the run defense that did a solid job late after struggling early. Don't discount that interception, either. A ball tipped in that close of a space calls for a quick reaction. Herbig had an even easier chance the week before and dropped it. Watt didn't miss his chance and that led to three points in a two-point game. It also helped the Steelers take control in time of possession.

That said, it isn't relevant to the thread. If you want to criticize Watt, there are plenty of threads for it. I'll join you because I think his play is in significant decline and giving him that massive contract was a mistake.

Fair points and yes you still have to complete the catch. Hoping him and Cam both show up big Monday night.

Agreed. I think Heyward just had his best game of the season. The Steelers need him to continue to play that way in the playoffs.

Hopefully, Watt's play will improve as he gets farther away from the medical malpractice that injured his lung. I would imagine that he will feel stronger this week than he did last.
