Need to work on making better picks there.

Hopefully Johnson can get going next season and not follow in Wilsons footsteps.

    Aside from him and Wilson:

    2023: Mt Washington - good
    2022: DeMarvin Leal - poor
    2021: Kendrick Green - poor
    2020; Alex Highsmith - good
    2019: Justin Layne - poor
    2018: Reindeer - mid

Doesn’t really get any better from there. Going all the way back to 2010 they only hit on Conner, Hargrave and Sanders.

Considering the changes to the front office it seems odd to be looking at this as a whole. Youve got 6 years of Colbert and one of kahn

2 of Khan, Wilson and Johnson. Not off to a good start.

Tomlin is still a part of that process, too.

It's rather early to be calling Johnson a bust. Not all 3rd rounders excel as rookies, especially when they weren't drafted to start right away. Think of it this way, who do you take off the field to give Johnson more carries?

Calling Johnson a bust is silly. Too early for Johnson. As for Roman Wilson?! Needs someone other than Aaron Rodgers throwing him the football.

Seems that bridge is burned to the ground trust wise.

I mean, not that those facts are wrong but look at that Twitter handle. Of course Iowa's most hated rival would want to troll Johnson. I was definitely disappointed with his season but also disappointed with how and when they used him. I think they could tell midway through the season he simply wasn't ready.

Never used the word bust guys. I said hopefully he can get going next season and not follow in Wilsons footsteps.

Seems he never got out of the doghouse after his muffed punt.

Their team history overall dating back to at least 2010 (didnt go back further) on 3rd rd picks needs to be better.

From what I hear the issue with Johnson is his speed. Don’t see how that gets better in year 2?

A RB isn't ready to run?? My take is that the Steelers wanted, no, needed the RB to be able to pass block for a 41 yr old QB. That was Johnson's biggest roadblock to getting on the field. They just didn't trust him to pick up blitzes. Add in the fact that he was drafted as insurance, not as a starter. Fortunately, they didn't need the insurance this year.

I’m guessing that we won’t be sitting on all 3 of those picks. It’s going to be an interesting draft for sure.

I will be very surprised if Roman Wilson makes the 53 next season.
I would trade him for a 6th or 7th or a swap in this draft .
Team absolutely needs to draft 2 WR's in the first 4 rounds considering they will have about 6 picks in said rounds.

Tried to tell everyone who thought he was going to come in and take over the backfield right away that if you cant block you dont play. That would never be more true when your QB is 42.

I thought by mid season hed be contributing but didnt even do that.

Also to your other point, they just didnt have any urgency to work him in because Warren and Gainwell were playing so well.

Read through this a couple times and still haven’t come across the word “bust” in the OP

I think Johnson was drafted with the idea of him contributing right away. He just wasn't good enough, and Gainwell stepped up as more than a third-down back.

Why would any team trade for a bust like Wilson?

He can lose weight and get in better shape that's what LeVeon did to get quicker.

I agree but there is a lot of dumb teams that would say he didn't get a chance and would give a 7th I think.
    If not cut him.

Edit. I don't think he is even a bust, he should have never been drafted.
That's what happens when you have a need and reach.

Based on the information available at the time, he was not a reach. Most draft rankings I saw had him as a bargain. He has physical talent and he was a playmaker against high-level competition at Michigan. He just hasn't been able to make the adjustment to the mental aspect of the game at the pro level.

Johnson was so bad that they made Jonnu Smith the 3rd RB. And to think we passed on Scattebo, Harvey, Tuten and about 2 dozen other rookie RB's who had a better season.
