Cook looked really good tonite. He was in good position in pass protection and kept his man in front of him. I think we can trade Broderick Jones for a 2nd round pick.

Idk, I’d doubt we could get much right now with his neck injury being up in the air. It would suck to lose him to an injury like that. I would love to see Cook and Jones battle it out in camp though next year. Can’t have too many good players (and we can’t always rely on perfect heal tbh). It’s nice to see that we have someone like Cook ready to step in though when we needed him. Who the heck had him on the PS to start the year? Geez.

You think we can trade Jones for a 2nd round pick? No chance of that happening.

As for Cook, his solid play saved our season. Him as Gainwell.

    Thanks for the laugh.

Jones was the weak link on the line for sure and Dylan Cook has played very solid but trade Jones for a 2nd? I do like your optimism but it's not going to happen. I feel at this point Cook should be able to compete for the spot in 2026.

The tale of the tape will be IF they give him the 5th year option. Hopefully not.

I give 20-1 odds that Jones does not get a 5th year option from the Steelers

I would hold the smattering of applause personally. Cook has done better than anyone thought for certain. That said, against Myles Garrett, Cook got exposed hard.

Speed to power remains his biggest enemy. Will Anderson Jr of the Texans is among the NFLs best; if not the best. Time to see what he can do.

You have a point about Garrett and speed to power. But this is still a work in progress and Cook has been really go to this point. He may have learned a few things going up against Garrett, and it's on the coaching staff to help him with chips by backs and tight ends to try to help him if he can't hold up.

Does Will Anderson move around like Garrett? I watched the Texans/Colts and he seemed to play vs the RT in that game. Maybe the only Texans game I watched all season so I don't know the answer. He and Hunter are both very good.

I had the same impression - that Anderson lines up at LOLB nearly exclusively. I haven’t really watched the Texans this year though.

I have not either. Most seasons I get all the Titans games but I didn't this year. That's who I typically see the Texans play against.

Man -- it makes a huge difference to not have a tight end or guard dedicated to helping out your left tackle when you are passing. Cook proved that in four games played vs. good to great competition.

You've been beating this drum for what, 4, 5 weeks?

I'm not high on Garrett, but he's a monster (when he wants to be). Every game, almost every pass play the team struggled to give #8 any time. The difference is night and day with Cook. It's the eye test. The Steelers are more poised with Cook. The OLine is more cohesive with Cook.

Jones is so frustrating. So much ability but gets burned constantly.

    Sure does.

Even worse?! Hunter does as well. Neither are static.

They are both very talented, the whole Texan defense is special. Steelers have to have their A game for sure.

Myles Garrett doesn't get 23 sacks this season because he isn't better than most of the LT's in the NFL. Failing again Garrett doesn't mean that he isn't good enough to be a solid LT in the NFL.

    That wasn't my point.

Point of the matter remains is that speed to power remains a big work in progress for Cook. I had already conceded he will have a fighting chance to be the starting LT for Pittsburgh in 2026. I am not conceding he is of starting g capability.

    Need to see more myself.

    Yep.

Since the rules changes, we haven't extended a guy who's just a playing time tier guy (Edmunds, Najee).

Only guys who are all-pros (Watt, Minkah).

I think we'd option probowlers too.

And the two guys we didn't option played cheap positions. OL (they group them all together) is a little less than WR and almost the same as Edge. I don't think we'll guarantee that kind of money 2 years out for a guy who hasn't played all that well but showed some improvement before getting hurt.

Jones isn't good enough to be breaking the norms of the team here IMO.

I also don't think I'd trade him (unless someone did want to give us the over payment the OP suggests). OL depth is very important. And Jones can play both OT positions.
