There was a time when empty seats at a Steelers’ game was unheard of and it didn’t matter when. Sadly, it’s been happening more n more over the last decade. I still blink and rub my eyes when I see it. I think there’s varied reasons for it but it still freaks me out when I see it.

    Go Steelers!

Bottom line is ANY organization that had Pittsburgh’s credentials for the last 10-15 years would have gone through at least one coaching change and some two. Why do we keep holding on to middle of the rung coaches! It is all they are.

Are you arguing that we should be happy that our "participation trophy" is better looking than teams like Browns and Raiders?

It's not that people don't agree... it's just that people have apathy about having the best participation trophy for 10 years including a bunch of years with a HoF QB.

Maye did everything he could to lift that team last season. It wasnt his play for why they were bad. I was telling everyone Maye was going to be great.

Sorry but absolutely Ben Johnson has elevated the Bears.

It’s still the best Lawrence has looked even when they have won in the past.

Spot on with all those points.
Jayden Daniels is an interesting case too. Kingsbury really out did himself to design that offense to fit him.
It is dangerously teetering to an RG III thing with all the injuries to Daniels this year.

But Ben Johnson has really paid off for the Bears.
Maybe and Nix were my guys in that draft.

    I go to the games

For the most part I have not seen empty seats other than after halftime when people are in the beer or bathroom lines

Pederson was 8 years ago, he won a SB with Foles and had Wentz looking like a franchise QB prior to getting hurt.

Kingsbury was definitely someone I was interested in for OC. He’ll probably get another HC job, his stint with the Cardinals was a mixed bag. Might be one of those guys better as a coordinator than running the whole thing.

I am arguing that what you WANT your team to do in a given season and what are realistic EXPECTATIONS for your team are two distinct things.

As a fan, I want the Steelers to win every game by shut-out, drive their enemies before them, and hear the lamentations of their fans.

But when I look at what realistic expectations and benchmarks are based on current NFL performance by similar rosters, I figure anything above 6 wins is playing with house money.

    Okay.

So we have two outlier case in past 9 years. 4 in 25.

And if you want to consider that these are not "lightening in a bottle" exceptions. Look at Pederson's career after this one season. It was not good. So in this case, was it a "genius" HC elevating the games of his QBs or was it just one of those things were Foles and Wentz were just on a heater for some reason(s) that no one was able to isolate and recreate?

    Why is Kingsbury interesting?

He flamed out in Arizona with fairly reasonable amounts of talent.

He ONLY succeeded in Washington when Jayden Daniels was asked to do it all. Once Daniels got hurt and a WR or two went out (leaving Washington with a similar lack of offensive talent as the Steelers), the offense crated and failed to do anything.

Again...other coaches are being given the benefit of the doubt and excuses for failure that are not being applied to the Steelers. If you create that skewed of a comparison, of course they look better. Look at Kingsbury with Mariotta and without his lead WR and he is calling an offense that is worse than what Smith has cobbled together.

People are going to and likely already have taken my posts to be some full throated defense of Tomlin and staff. And that is not really the case. I just think that if you compare them to their peers based on expectations and benchmarks derived from apples to apples comparisons and not untethered fan expectations, the "gap" between the Steelers staff and the rest of the league starts to narrow considerably.

That's not what happened in Washington.
The season started with McLaurin holding out then injured a lot.
They lost all their DE's to injuries.
They took injuries to the OL.
    TE's went down.
And of course Daniels went down, twice.
Washington's offense isn't terrbile, but yes they are a bit think. Adam Peters will fix that (I think he got a little too aggressive and moved a couple players too many that he should have kept around)

    This is typical in Washington.
Kingsbury's offense is not bad at all, he's found 2 really good RB's.
    Found a WR in Burns.

I'm not sure I'd go with Kingsbury as a Head Coach. They think he will be stolen though.
Word is that Quinn is safe for this year too.

****Edit***** Forgot about the Defensive Coordinator. He was the equivalent of Matt Canada only on the defensive side.
