I like this but I have a funny feeling the Browns finish ahead of the Ravens. I went out on a limb here and predicted we would go 16-0. I had us losing one game to the Browns but before the game was over the Browns remembered that they sucked and went ahead and lost.

I am leaning toward 9-7, but I also think that will be good enough, with a tie-breaker, to win the AFCN. It's possible, in fact, that the Steelers, Ravens, and Bengals are all 9-7 at the end. But I think the tie will be Steelers/Bengals. Ravens at 8-8. An improved Browns team at 7-9 or 6-10.

16 - 0 with another SB ring, duh.

Went with 11-5, we had an 8-8 season but we aren't an 8-8 team, easy for me to evaluate last season and pick out what led to that record and lack of talent isn't among any of the reasons. Wanted to say 12 - 4 but we have a tough division, even Cleveland is no cake walk, I'm surprised some of you have our division rated so weak, I disagree with 12-88s prediction of us, Ravens and Bengals having a 9-7 record, no way, at least 2 of those teams will finish with 10 or more wins.

Since all the players remembered they had to keep their helmets on, the coach must have gone out on the field, and shaken the ref`s hand for fixing the game...
Thereby violating a heretofore unknown rule, about exposing the hypocrisy of Roger Goodell...

I went with 11-5 or better, I really think we have the talent to win the division and make a run in the playoffs. That is if we can stay healthy.

We will be hurting again this year. 9-7 will be our record this season.

This may totally throw this poll into a frenzy, but I think I'll vote after each Steelers pre-season game.

After the first pre-season game I predict:
    8-8
    :(

It appears that while some of the players are different, the DNA and character of the team seems to be the same. We come out flat, uninspired and unprepared and get handled in the trenches. Last night's pre-season game seemed to be a microcosm of last year. Not throwing in the towel, just making an observation after week one of the pre-season.

    Have at it Jack.

FYI, I was going to ask TTF if the actual "voted" results could be cleared after the final preseason game and we could all re-vote again.

Sure, I could do that but I won't be changing my vote, sticking with 11-5! After all, there are teams that go 0-4 in preseason and still go onto have a good season. At least that's what I am telling myself after yesterdays disappointing display.

Okay, here you have it. This is my "informed" prediction after the third preseason game as promised. I predict another 8-8 season. We were 8-8 last year and I haven't seen anything in the preseason to make me believe that we'll be any better than we were last year. Oh, we could get to 9-7 and sneak into the playoffs if some other teams have a lackluster year. Or we could end up 7-9 (or worse) and have a losing season. I don't see any intensity, any passion, any fire from this group. I see...flat. That's what we saw last year. It seems our preparation and execution is lacking. I see 2012 all over again.

Now I know I'll be criticized for this post. Some will accuse me of posting a "sky is falling" thread. Others will say "it's only the preseason" so get over it or something of that nature. But I'm trying to look at this as objectively as I can and I just don't see an improved football team over last year. If you disagree, please don't get on here and disparage what I say and tell me how stupid this post is and how I'm overreacting because it's "only the preseason". Tell me why I should believe that we're a better team this year based on what we've seen so far, which is all we've got to go by.

I'm frustrated at this team right now. I'm frustrated with Tomlin who can't seem to get the team fired up to play. I'm frustrated with Haley who doesn't seem to be any better than BA at this point. I'm frustrated at the "genius", DL, who seems to have forgotten how to devise a blitz scheme that actually gets pressure on the QB. I'm frustrated at Colbert who's been missing more than he's hitting on high round draft choices the last few years. They all play a role in where we find ourselves as a football team right now!

Go ahead with your "sky is falling, it's only the preseason, you're overreacting" criticisms if you want to, but can you honestly say we are a better team this year than we were last year based on what you've seen thus far? I just can't see it. I hope when the regular season starts the switch goes on and we unleash...well, never mind.

I don't think the sky is falling but I do see a team in transition from a painfully slow and old team to a younger team. That is going to take some time to come to fruition. What I have seen from Jarvis, Wheaton, Shamarko et al has me excited about the future of the team. This team could very well go 9-7 or 8-8 this season as the improvement may come a little later in the season. I have no stats to back that up on, just a hunch from watching this team since 1974.

Late 1st quarter, just after we scored to take a 10-0 lead. I think I know where you're going with this and correct me if I'm wrong. You're going to say we looked like world beaters the first quarter, right? But we did what we so often did last year. We got up on an (seemingly) inferior team and then allowed them to get right back in it. How many times did that happen last year? We allowed teams to hang around and they're lining up for the winning the FG with 5 seconds left.

You know how much I respect you and so often agree with you but tonight I got to watch the whole game from start to finish and I thought it was a HUGE improvement over what we've seen so far. Our WR's were catching it good and if EZ wouldn't have bobbled a GREAT pass by Ben we would have had another TD. Our 1st string ST actually did a pretty good job too. Troy was ALL over the place and recovered a fumble and blew up a 3rd and short in the backfield which is GREAT news. Jarvis Jones play with unbridled enthusiasm and once Ben gets more time with Wheaton I'm telling you that's gonna really pay off. I think losing Wallace and Mendy was classic "addition by subtraction" and I think Wheaton is gonna make a lot of people forget Wallace pretty quickly. That kid can run routes and catch what you throw at him. He got behind a double coverage for a sweet td tonight. Tomlin was even showing some fire tonight. I'm not ready to say what we are gonna be this year but based off tonight I would say we are a lot better than 8-8. Rewatch this game on NFL Network this week from the start and I think you'll feel a little bit differently. There are many positives to take away from this game and this is the first time I've felt this way all year.

Wait til you see the play that put the Chiefs in scoring position. Cortez got pushed in the back on a great closing play on Smith and he ran in to him and they flag us for 15 yards. Without that stupid call we win the game. Also they called a chop on Dwyer that was pretty stupid as well.

I saw that pay and it was a TERRIBLE call! But those things happen in the regular season too. I just saw an undisciplined football team tonight who didn't seem to want it as bad as the other team. I'm probably as concerned about the coaching on this team as I've ever been. I'm ready for the regular season to start so we can see what we really have. Is the "rose colored glasses" contingency right, or will it be the "sky is falling" delegation?
