Even at the end of the season we won't know. I don't think anyone can consistently scout college QBs to the NFL level.

I think it's the difference in game speed (and required processing speed) that makes it so hard to predict success. And that so few humans are capable of being good NFL QBs, so most people can't succeed in the league.

Even guys with great college play.

You might be right...things could so south real quick and change everything. Right now definitely seems like he is enjoying himself and could see him wanting to come back and make another run at it.

I dont think we need to take a QB this draft. use the picks to build the team . Start Howard next year and see what he is capable of.. Best case he plays well and looks like a franchise Qb. worst case he sucks and we have high draft picks in 2027

Not with many of those vets on the team they aren't going to turn the team over to Howard.

That could be said with a first round Qb also.. Ward and the rest of the vets prob prob felt the same When Ben was thrown into the lineup. and that turned out alright

Exactly, so at least let's see them play 1st, instead of someone trying to tell me who would be in the 1st round before they even played a game. LoL

They didn't intend to play Ben that early though he was like 3rd string he had to play because of injury.

If they don’t draft a QB they will not start the season with Howard automatically they will do what they did this year and last.

Howard will be given a chance in camp but they will go with whomever gives them the best chance to win each week as they should.

    AR maybe back.

I don't know why people seem to count on this ever happening. Tomlin could start the corpse of Bobby Layne at QB and still go 9-8.

If we don't trade up for a QB this draft, I'd like us to trade out of a couple of those 3rd rounders to try to pick up 2nd round picks the following draft.

I don't know if we'll do that because (1) we basically never trade for future picks and (2) I don't see us trading out of picks when the draft is in Pittsburgh.

So for all the people that disliked Archie Manning he finished the year with 36 overall TDs, and 9 ints.
Not bad for his 1st year as a starter.
Let's see of He builds on that next year.

Arch Manning? Archie is 76 years old.

And alas I have little to no memory of people disliking Arch Manning

Many people such as myself correctly pointed out a year or so ago he had a limited resume and another season was appropriately warranted

The Mannings call him Archie, and all You have to do is scroll through this thread , and one other thread to prove that you are incorrect about nobody downing on him. The same people I told to wait until it played out, and it still has another season to play out.

By the way, I know who the Archie Manning is You are talking about, I watched him play football too. I'm not a kid.

It was either start a new thread for it, or use the other 2 old ones. I figured since neither belongs in the Steelers section, I would use one of the two old ones already there.

With that logic why don’t we draft a 5th round quarterback and start him

Why don’t people think we should start a 6th round pick and waste a year

He had a rough start to the season but was probably the best QB in college at the end of the year. His performance against Michigan today was incredible.

Agreed. His production compared to Michigan's Qb was funny to see, the difference in the talent of the two.
I didn't realize he was that fast. That one td was crazy. Hell he had two passing, and two running tds. It was an entertaining game, of what I got to see when I finally got home.
