It happen that a QB screwed up when you play over 250 games...Even for Tom Brady.Still not the reason why they were not in the playoffs that year. This is a another story for the 2006 season

And if the team had both of them, they probably would've had a few more wins ;).

No, but I think a lot of the same reasons why the B's team didn't win and the current teams aren't winning are comparable. We're losing in the same manner. There's really only one constant between those two teams...

I can understand why people are upset that the B's didn't win a SB. That's fair. But there's plenty of reasons to be upset that we don't win playoff games currently. We're not the best roster, but we are a good enough roster to win a playoff game in the last 9 years. We just are. Plenty of not great QB's win playoff games (heck, a couple have won a SB). Plenty of meh rosters get hot and win a game or two in the postseason. The best team often doesn't win it all... which is why one and done is so awesome. Its just so demoralizing to be a Steeler fan right now. We have a quality enough roster, but we either look awesome or look like trash. Then we get hot and look to have a high chance of getting in... then get beat by one of the worst teams in the league for no reason. When we look down and out, we go on a winning streak to suck us back in. We have a model of consistency from year to year (we win 9 or 10 games basically every year), but within each season is a tale of high highs and low lows... For a model of consistency, we're wildly inconsistent... there's a reason for that.

Since 2010 there have been a ton of non-elite QB's that go to (or win) the SB...

Hurts, Purdy, Garroppolo, Goff, Foles, Newton, Kaepernick, Flacco.

Even going back to 1995 there's Warner, Grossman, Hasselbeck, Delhomme, Gannon, Johnson, Chandler, O'Donnell

I understand that the "most elite" QB's are going to be multiple SB winners (Brady, Mahomes, Ben, Manning (both, technically)) and there's a couple that went multiple times and won once (Brees, Wilson, Warner). Rodgers and Stafford have each only been once but won when they did... But the whole list of SB starting QB's is littered with average to slightly above average QB's mixed in with the greats.

You think not having a good QB since Ben is an excuse?

Show me one team that consistently wins without a top 10 QB.

This is a QB driven league, and we are not bad enough to draft a good one. That is not an excuse for Tomlin or the Steelers, that is pro football reality. And college, and even high school.

And Dilfer was what, 25 years ago? Every year the game has become more and more QB/offense friendly. As such the value of the QB position has continued to increase. But it is virtually impossible to find a good QB without drafting in the top 10.
The Rams and Stafford are the exception, not the rule.

You don't think Warner was an elite QB? The HOF voters disagree. If Brees ever went to a second SB, it was as a spectator.....

You're right about Brees. I got that one confused. He only went once and won. In my head they made it the year they got screwed on 4th down with the interference... I was wrong there

But no, I don't view Warner as an elite QB. He was elite for 3 years (his first 3 years). In those years he was a 3 time PB, 2 time MVP, 2 time AP1.... but he spent the rest of his career underachieving and not even being a full time starter the rest of the way. He found an old spark in Arizona at age 36 and 37, winning a Pro Bowl the year they went to the SB. He's a weird case since he was elite for a short time, but was basically nobody for 6 of his remaining 8 years. Short career because it started late, but when he was good, he was really good. I wouldn't consider him elite though. Not in the same way I see others. He's good, not great.

Warner was probably better than all of those guys with him being a two time MVP.

Hurts and Goff are the closest, though I'd put him on a similar level to those guys... maybe slightly ahead. Warner is definitely borderline, but he spent the majority of his career as a non-elite player. He just had a couple massive years in Saint Louis.

After 2010 Ben seemed to have a habit of going into every playoff game hurt and He and Tomlin could not beat Brady when
Warner walked into a great situation. He had a good O line, a 4x100 relay team for WR's and Marshall Faulk. It is kind of hard to mess that up.

It's sad it came down to that play but by rule that was DPI. But the NFL was just not going to give the Steelers another potential game-winning score.

I'm guessing Rodgers can afford it:

Rodgers threw a jump ball in the back of the end zone to wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who tried to make a catch over Browns cornerback Denzel Ward on fourth-and-goal. The controversy came when Ward jumped with his hands in Valdes-Scantling’s face with his back toward the ball and came down on top of him as they crumpled to the turf.

Many—Rodgers included—believed pass interference should have been called and the Steelers should’ve had another opportunity to put the ball in the end zone.

Rodgers didn’t pass up an opportunity after the game while speaking to reporters to call out the officials over the missed call that forced a winner-take-all matchup in Week 18 between Pittsburgh and the Baltimore Ravens to determine the AFC North champion.

“That was definitely interference,” Rodgers said. “I’ll have to look at the film on second and third down.”

While many agree with what Rodgers said, his remarks could cost him as the NFL typically fines players and coaches $25,0000 for publicly criticizing officials.
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua was recently hit with the same $25,000 fine for his critical remarks about the refs following a 38-37 overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 16.
“Some of the rules aren’t … These guys want to be … these guys are lawyers,” Nacua stated. “They want to be on TV too,” Nacua said. “You don’t think he’s texting his friends in the group chat like, ‘Yo, you guys just saw me on “Sunday Night Football.” That wasn’t P.I., but I called it.’”
