Box of chocolates

I said on another forum early in the season that opinions of this team keep swinging from aweful to SB run. Lost to the Raven...won't make the playoffs. Beat the Packer,s, fire Tomlin chants worked we are back.

Friends the bottom line is we just don't know what team will show up. Yes we can lose to anyone BUT I never feel "hopeless" in any game.

 

A+ FOR ORIGINALITY

 

I get Ravens games here in northern VA and frankly, we don't know which Ravens team will show up. They barely beat the Browns the last time they played and lost to the Pats and us. We shall see.

 

The Forrest Gump quote that I most relate to is "I think I ruined your roommate's bathrobe."

 

Chocolate

 

In a weird way I feel better with this than recent seasons. Said early on would not shock if we missed the playoffs, but would not be surprised if we won in the playoffs if we got there.

I take comfort in that certain early season weaknesses like run game, run defense, and oline are solid now.

I think Rodgers is the key. When he is on his game, making good decisions we can play with anybody. But if he struggles, we are not good at all.

Oh my. It was my first post here. Forgot I did that here, I had one earlier on the other site.

Should have bumped it up and crow as we had a "up" cycle following the doom and gloom back then which is my point.

Will we win THIS Sunday? No clue. But those who say we don't stand a chance did not learn the lesson from the last time "we had no chance" against this same team.

 

I have to laugh because I am a lurker on a Ravens board and TBH, if I just do a word swap "Ravens"=>"Steelers", "Harbaugh"=>"Tomlin", "Bisciotti"=>"Rooney", I could easily cut and paste their comments to nearly every post here and you wouldn't know the difference.

Some of their fans are extremely down on the team because, if you remember, they were highly touted as SB favorites this season. Once reality struck, it's "trade LJ", "fire Harbaugh", "ownership doesn't care", ....etc.

If you have to choose, I would say the Ravens vastly underperformed compared to the Steelers. Steelers were suggested as the bottom feeders for the division.

And yet here we are, Week 18 and a legitimate shot to win the division title. I heard the other day that 8 teams are vying for playoff positioning in the last game of the season. More than any season I can remember in a long time, the entire NFL is like a box of chocolates.

Case in point just happened:



(btw, if you are looking for COY candidates, you have to consider what Shanahan has done in SF as near amazing. Bosa on IR, Warner on IR, Purdy out for a month, Mykel Williams on IR. Beat the Rams, Bears, Seahawks, Colts, and yes, even beat the Browns!)

@forgotten1 is usually board secretary around here. I was messing with him for not catching it.

Whether we win or not is going depend a lot on who plays. Hope for the best, and expect the worst. That's all you can do with this team.

 

They may be vying for position but headed into week 18 there are only 2 Playoff spots left, 1 NFC and 1 AFC.

 

Dang, a secretary has to make more than a hall monitor. I bet @jeh1856 is upset.

Jeh is responsible for making sure threads go to the correct forum. Forgotten1 is responsible for making sure all new threads are merged with previous threads.

Similar jobs, equally low paying. The only one getting kickbacks is @SteelerGlenn who has been promoted to Director of Hall Security.

Part of the problem? A. Smith is a box of chocolates in game planning. In a game where the WR corps was playing 3rd and 4th stringers you had the two best offensive weapons with these stat lines:



Twelve touches for Warren, with no targets??

Add to this, the number of routes run to the MOF in this game? Less than 5. Not targets, total routes run to the middle.

This is the 1st time I actually kinda feel hopeless. Not the I give up, but the .....We are going to be without, for a fact 2 of our top 5 pass catchers.l, and no telling who out on D yet. We will likely have a pass rushers playing that has never started against Lamar, and his fake handoff option runs. We can win, but this is the only time I can actually think going into a game that I'm not feeling good about it.

 

I don't think that is factual. I will have to go back , and look. But You know if a Qb throws a route earlier in the route, or later in a route will actually change where the route was supposed to go.

 

We will be getting something but it may not be chocolate.
