I don't think that they're paid off. They're just making a lot of bad calls. The NFL referees Union got a pretty insane contract for the referees. They can basically do no wrong, don't have to do any training, and only work a few months of the year. You should look at all the perks they get, it's pretty crazy...... It's very difficult to hold a referee accountable for anything.
