They were backups, 3rd stringers, or waiver wire people. Neither Tomlin or Smith saw their talents in camp or weekly seasonal practices until recently. If not for injuries they would be deep on the bench. Now they have transformed the Steelers offense, despiste not receiving reps with the first team until recently. Check the excuses that so and so need to develop more at the door. That is coachspeak for a second or third year veteran trending on career back up or bust.

These men do not. They can play and are better than than opening day starters who were in front of them.

You would think a professional can see their talents after 10 practices . Ballers jump out at you.

Who are these guys whose jersey # 's are.. .. go ahead say them without looking them up!

    Let me start off with

#60. Dylan Cook. Left Tackle. His play is not an accident. He basically shut down players for 10 quarters flashing good movement / footwork, hand usage and OL smarts. He does not take any plays off, mentally or physically. He can combo block. Not a one or one maluer nor does he moonlight his body ( scout terminology for a well muscled offensive lineman ). He does not get flagged for dumb penalties nor does he hold and get flaged either. He sticks with his man. Not likey to get his QB hurt. I say he is better than B. Jones, who has been hurt a few times and beaten many times. Cook is our Left tackle of the present and future. He needs some work in the weight room to burn some fat off and build some muscle next season. Having said I am a fan, and IMO he is a reason why Rodgers has more time to pass and check his second options.

    # 16 Adam Thielen. Wide receiver.

Once a star player, this 35 year old still has gas left in the tank. He is smart, still quick and has hands of glue. He knows where the soft spots in coverage is is our #2 or #3 WR. He has Rodgers trust. I hope he plays in the 2026 season because he is most welcome back.

    # 80 Darnell E. Washington. TE

Recently called out by Gronk, this kid is going to be as good as he wants to be. A rare 2 way TE who can block out the sun and ANY Linebacker / Defensive Back or catch passes and run over defenders. If we had a good OC ( we don't ) we could seek mismatches vs. the defense on running plays and passing plays. May I recommend the TE screen? To achieve greatness he needs to count calories and keep his head in the game at all times, otherwise he will be just very good. He is quickly becoming a NFL household name.

    #14 Kenteh Gainewell. RB

Like Cook, and Washington he is under 27. He may be the best pass catching RB in the NFL.
As a running back, Gainwell offers good acceleration to the hole, good run vision, and very good speed.. He should be judged in his last 5 games. IMO, he is still a tad underused. A big playback, he is!

In five of our last six games , we have scored 27 or more points or more. This is enough to beat anyone on any given Sunday.

Why must you spin a positive into a negative? Think our coaches were stupid for not starting them sooner?

#60. Dylan Cook- Undrafted free agent veteran that was signed by another team who CUT him. Any team in the league could have had him but ONLY THE STEELERS saw value in him. Clearly raw, THE STEELERS developped him into what you see today.

    # 16 Adam Thielen. Wide receiver\- Nobody in the league but the Steelers even wanted him. dont even know why you included him.

    # 80 Darnell E. Washington. TE- Only the Steelers saw his raw potential despite not being a productive receiver in college. Also casme in raw but now has twices the starts as Muth or Jonu. His numbers will continue to grow.

#14 Kenteh Gainewell. RB- This is the most hilarious example. You do know he is a FIVE YEAR VETERAN and ONLY the Steelers figured out he was any good. That is how we acquired him for a ham sandwich. Contrary to your take, he LEAD THE TEAM IN SNAPS IN GAME 1 of this season. And most fans were hating on him at that time.

I know folks are scared to move him AGAIN but all of Brods strengths (powerful pulling) and weaknesses (in space) scream "guard". He really has elite guard traits.
Tackles DO make more money than guards, but "starting" guards make more than backup tackles (which is what he will wind up being if he stays put. Reminds me of Willie C back in the day.

I say we keep Cook at LT and look at Jones possibly replacing Issac S at LG.

Still awaiting more All 22 for Dylan Cook's performance. Brian Baldinger does have some cut ups but they were all positive snaps. I will say this; what I did see during the game was a number of chips against Aidan Hutchinson.

Regardless, I do agree that Left Guard should be much higher on the list.

Gainwell has been involved in the offense since the beginning of the season, fans and media were complaining he was playing too many snaps.

Need like 34 points or more in the playoffs. We have to continue to improve.

Adam Thielen was the Jaylen Warren of the Vikings. He did nothing but work his butt off to make the team and force his way into the starting lineup by perfecting his craft. If there was a Hines Ward award for receivers I'd nominate Thielen. He knows his job and shows up every play.

    Welcome to the board, Lemming.

Sorry to inform you but after 20 plus pro practices in camp, pre-season games, and several regular season games the above players were not evaluated. Our professional coaches did not feel they were better than the men in front of them. Injuries are the reason they are being featured now, not their judgement. Have you ever played or coached? It does not take long to figure out who can play and who is not suited as a starter. You come across as an apologist.

Might you have not read the camp reports? Cook looked good when he played. And looks great now in games. Washington was a star in camp. The Steelers likely tried hard to trade for a WR, I am glad no one accepted our terms, ( draft capital ) because Thielin Is what we need. A solid #2 or #3 WR. In Philly a guy named Barkley was in front of Gainwell. Might that be why he did not get a chance to shine in Philly? We did not use Gainewell properly until a few games in. IMO, he should be used more often than he is.

I see you think Jones might fill in at LG. Like Dotson? Surely you do not move a 1st round left tackle to Guard unless you admit he is a bust at tackle. I question Jones ability as a people mover ( vs. the smaller and lighter ends , DT's are typically much bigger and stronger / harder to move ) Jones body is too injury prone anyway.

And DK is not even close to Pickens who is a top 3 WR in the NFL. Just imagine if we had him with an AR, a solid LT ( Cook ). But I would pick DK in a street fight or a fan scuffle over Pickens. Just saying ... Ah, Tomlin's decisions...

Thank you for replying to my thread.
