Typically when there's no dominant team, parity leads to exciting football. But this year, even close games are slopfests and dreadful football. I don't know if its just bad QB play, bad coaching or what. There's like 7 or 8 really bad teams that in a typically year they're drafting 1 or 2. Never seen the product this bad before.

    It all starts. With fundamentals.

Don’t overlook the horrendous officiating. Never seen it so bad.

I'll continue to blame the NFLPA negotiated rules that severely limits real practice with pads, but that's just my theory

New York is getting way to involved.

early on it was The Goff TD, where New York stepped in and called an illegal motion penalty, where no penalty was called on the field was just plain crazy, and against the rule book. The interview after the game with Dan Cambbell said the officials told him on the field that New York made the call, and then a day later when he said he knows that the Commissioner has ordered him not to repeat it, but he said it again was just plain cheating in my book. It has been reported that the NFL and its betting partners save over $1 million, by having the NFL office call that illegal penalty.

Every week it is something different like this.

This week I saw "New York" get involved in trying to help the Chiefs by throwing out a player on the Chargers who had been called for a helmet-to-helmet hit, but no targeting. The officials announced the foul for unnecessary roughness, the players 1st penalty. And that was it, the teams began to get ready for the next play, when the officials were told to throw the player out of the game to benefit the Chiefs, and never explained what happened or why? The officiating announcer said New York had called down and ejected the player on their own.

I just have to wonder if the reason the Steelers defense always seems to get bad in the 2nd half is because their lack of conditioning. During training camp I don't see the running anymore that I remember from 25+ years ago. Nothing is being done to get the players in shape, a lot of stretching, but no actual conditioning drills. No long practices, no multiple practice in the day, and a lot of days off all thanks to the new NFLPA rules.

Which coincides with fundamentals. Players should start practicing
    fundamental football in Pee Wees

While I tend to agree I will give credit to the NFL yesterday. I watched 4 damn good NFL games yesterday. Hell it wasn't the Steelers and I yelled a few times.

If I was at that level the money would be a super incentive for me to stay in the best possible shape I could. Would be my #1 priority knowing I got to make those bucks in a 10-15 year period.
