If we pretend like this is a franchise that would fire the head coach if we don't win the division, would you rather win the AFCN, or get a new coach?

This is not considering the likely scenario that we would get stomped again in the first playoff game. Or that we would be better off losing out and getting a draft pick higher than 21.

This is just a hypothetical question. Win the AFCN or be done with Tomlin next year.

Win the freaking division. Nobody on God's green earth knows the outcome of anything, even if they pretend they do.
People need to look at themselves really hard , and think what that's says about you if You rather lose.
I remember a 2005 team that had no chance, and had to win all of their last 4, or 5 games just to make a playoffs.

Is this a real question? As much as I believe the Steelers need to move on from Tomlin, I will NEVER pull for them to lose. I want to see them to win the division even if it means they keep Tomlin. I'd rather the team I love have a shot, then not.

We are going to win the division so the question is moot.

Well said. I don't care if he gets fired, or not, but I will never pull to lose......NEVER, and I always wonder what that says about a person that would.

I'm not a big Tomlin supporter, but I'd rather win the division. I just want to see the team win. As far as I'm concerned, Mike can stay for another decade or more if he wins the division every year because at some point he'll accidentally stumble into a playoff win or two.

maybe? Assuming the opposing QB is AJ McCarron level and they also have the new age Vontaze Burfict and Pacman Jones on their team... Then we might kick a FG at the end and win ;)

This may sound strange to some but Even if we win the super bowl Tomlin should retire or move on, 20 years is enough.

so obviously win as much as possible this year but we still need to move on.

I think you all know where I come down on this. This is not a playoff team, not a playoff coach. This is not the 2008 Steelers with Dick LeBeau and Keith Butler and Bruce Arians. You know we will get smoked if we get to the playoffs. We are better off losing out and forcing a move at HC.

If MT wins the SB this year he will sign another 3 year extension and rightfully so. This is coming from someone who thinks Tomlins should have been gone long ago. I’m just a realist. If he were let go he would have phone conversations with another team while in Acrisure parking lot.

How about both? Win the division and fire Tomlin after the quick home playoff loss and exit.

If he gets smoked in the Playoffs 1st round at home they should take his keys at the press conference.

Can't? Not true. Won't? Likely true but, without getting to the playoffs? 100% true.

Its the team that he built. Its definitely not the team he inherited. Huge difference.

Of course we should route for a Division Championship. But as others have said and I believe would see another blowout loss. So Rinse and Repeat once again.

Then the gummy worm owner will come out and say he is ripping up the contract of Bags Tomlin and adding years. He keeps us above the Mean which is the new Standard. Buckle up! Wallowing in mediocrity...

I dont think anyone is rooting for a loss no matter how they voted. As I read this question it states WIN the division or get a new coach. Both can happen without rooting for the Steelers to lose. Getting a new coach is what this team needs and a new coaching staff to go along with it. This team has talent but the coaching philosophy isnt doing these players any favors. We see what happens when we open up the playbook, when we bring blitzers from "unexpected" personnel. This tells me that they have talent, they just have bad coaching or bad schemes. Either way a change is needed and you wont teach that old dog a new trick....wont happen.

I'm never going to specifically root for losing. But the "real" mythical poll question here is this:

If you could choose between making the playoffs and getting blown out in a 40-3 rout - or - not making the playoffs and Tomlin getting replaced, I'll take Tomlin getting replaced. I'm tired of making the playoffs only to get humiliated. I'm starting to forget the last time we played a competitive playoff game.

Jan. 15, 2017. Beat KC 18-16. Every playoff loss since then has been a complete disaster.

Yep, sad that it's a distant memory at this point.

Every talking head on TV has to start by saying, "Tomlin is an excellent coach and teams would line up to sign him in a heartbeat". I don't get it. I don't see it. 4 seasons out of going-on-19 with a play off win. That's way below the line. And the list of playoff humiliations is far too long. Any other head coach is fired long ago.

Well, one thing I can totally eliminate is "Get a New Coach" - this isn't happening this offseason.
Unless Tomlin himself decides to resign/retire.
After 26 this becomes a legitimate option.

This season would be a story book story to make it to the Super Bowl and that is what I hope for.
But sadly, I see an end while on the road in the first round. This does not stop me from riding with the underdog Steelers.
