The hope would be that he makes the decision himself. No matter how much I'm being paid, I'd get tired of not being able to push the needle and taking crap from a restless fanbase that expects a contender. I think Tomlin is aware he could score a job with another team pretty easily. If he takes over a club on the upswing talent-wise he could post some results like he had in his first five to eight years here.

If not that, one of the networks would be offering him a role as an analyst.

I have been thinking about this (I know, cue the "he actually thinks?" snipes) and I think Ravens and Harbaugh are playing the long game and tryijng their best to make sure our crap-tacular Tomlin-lead Steelers win the division. They know if they keep Tomlin around they won't have to fear a 14-3 Steelers juggernaut any time soon.

I am fearing that a 9-8 Steelers team somehow wins division and Tomlin gets a full "I believe in him" post-season pat on the back from Rooney and we return in 2026 with Tomlin and the same dour outlook, regardless of how good or bad the roster is. Sigh.

Most any other year, and we'd be well on the outside looking up at the butts of the Ravens (or more recently the Bengals) and be 2 or 3 games back or more. Burrows and Jackson injuries have made it possible for a bad Steelers team to make the playoffs.

MAYBE this will all backfire on Burrow, Jackson, Harbaugh and Co's and Steelers eek into, mildly, the playoffs and Tomlin surprises me and actually comes up with a non-pop warner game plan and wins a wild-card round game...and maybe they stumble into a division round win too? Sadly, even then, I'd probably want Tomlin gone, but I WOULD be stoked to be able to watch football in January and actually....CARE. It's been a long time.

Steeler fans are upset about Mike Tomlin’s record of the team making it to the playoffs and then losing right away. Many fans scapegoat Mike.

In 2023, the Steelers lost to the Bills 31-17 in the Wild Card. The 49ers and Chiefs played in the Super Bowl. The value of the 49ers' player contracts was $42 million higher than the Steelers’ ($206M vs. $248M).

In 2024, the Steelers lost to the Ravens 28-14. The Eagles and Chiefs played in the Super Bowl. The value of the Eagles' player contracts was $91 million higher than the Steelers’ ($216M vs. $307M).

If Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan had $40- $60 million more to spend on the team roster, would it have made a difference? We will never know. While having more money available for player contracts does not guarantee success, it does not hurt.

Over the last three seasons (2023- 2025), the Steelers' contract values ranked them 24th out of 32 teams. At the start of the current 2025 season, the Steelers ranked 23rd.

Total cash paid to players- according to Spotrac, over five seasons (2020 to 2024), the Steelers never finished in the top half of the NFL in player payouts, with the highest finish at 18th. Compare this to the Bills, who finished in the top half in cash payouts all five seasons, with the lowest payout ranked 15th.

Mike Tomlin as coach- Sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you do not know. Just ask the Titans.

Man, I just got up. I don't need to start the day explaining
    - how stupid and depressing this coach has become.
    - How he rode the trail coat off a previous coach.
    - How he has no balls to discipline players, for instance Dk has been fined, wilson has twice, cam makes stuff up to try to fight, DK does unsportman penalty after a play was over that cost us 15 yards, etc etc, yet Tomlin has zero care to telling them to grow up.
    - having to hear for the 100th time, the standard is the standard
    - continuing to watch their no need to improve the receiver room.
..... and this is just a scratch.

PS, screw you!!! for making me start my day off like this. Now I need to go reverse the ratio of alcohol in my coffee. By the way, It was originally 100% coffee and zero alcohol.

Mike Tomlin is living in the Past. How can you defend him. Of all the things he hasn't kept up with his biggest common flaw is
Like many Celebrities, people in Goverment, Sports figures
They can't read the room. Their reather too old, too out of it or too rapped up in their Egos to just take a graceful knee and go out with some respect. Verses being made to Walk the Plank of public Disgrace.

Apparently Dino ran off some twitter Steeler guy. Deleted his account. I think the guy was shooting his mouth off about a rumor on Tomlins marriage.

If thats true, he got what he deserved, keep it football related.

Whew, that's 15 seconds I'll never get back.

One thing is for certain, Tomlin isn't going anywhere this season as far as the club is concerned.
The only way out is if he resigns.
That might happen if they void the last year option on his contract a real long shot.
So, that makes one's day brighter.
