Now just imagine if the Ravens run it 26 times successfully this week. That should entail not only being fired or cut, but a lifetime ban from the City of Pittsburgh.

 

I don't know if the Ravens will run this play this week, but I bet the Dolphins will on Monday night. If we still can't stop it, everyone will run it on us until we can.

Saw that 4th down goal line play again. Baldinger analyzed it. Clearly the WR comes off the line blocking on what he said was a "RuB" route. Now the rest of the coverage was garbage, but he clearly steps off the line and goes into a blocking posture just throwing a hip get the TE open on the block.

100 percent should have been called back.

 

So again, not just to the OP but also everyone who has or will respond to this post, losing Derrick Harmon did the Steelers little to no favors. Without him, the Defense suffered not just because of the lack of contain by the Corners but also the lack of penetration from the IDL. If anything, this Buffalo game just exposed how much worse the teams IDL Depth is than initially thought.


Who's to say that IDL isn't on the shortlist heading into next offseason?! I'd put money on it that IDL is going to be drafted much sooner rather than later.

 

The certainly need to address it. They did try in the offseason, but they are missing two of the guys they brought in right now. Harmon is a huge loss, but Ekuale had also been solid before tearing his ACL in October. Brodric Martin-Rhodes was their in-season attempt at adding depth. He's big, but I didn't see him helping much despite getting a good bit of playing time Sunday.

They were ok heading into the season with Daniel Ekuale as a solid backup/rotation player. His injury hastened getting Black into the lineup. He needs at least another year of development.

Anyone remember when Big Snack hit Eddie George of the Titans mid air and super slo-mo showed that George was knocked out (and fumbled) before he hit the ground. It was the Division playoff game in2002.Sure miss that kind of run defense. There's a video on YouTube of this play (actually full 2nd half) but NFL rules won't let me post it here. I think DL is definitely on the shortlist next season, not just for depth but for a starter. Coming into '25, Cam Heyward received a boost as he was coming off a very strong '24 campaign. He has a cap hit this year at $22.8M and despite the all the nonsense that went on, the number is not unreasonable considering the season he had - FWIW I didn't agree with renegotiating his contract but just looking at the number it is in line with how he played in '24. Based on this season, he is nowhere close to being worth his '26 cap hit next year. His '26 cap hit is $19.15M with a savings of over $14M if he is not back. After two years of playing footsie with him and giving him the benefit of the doubt as a team leader, he can't return at a number anywhere near that. Time to move on, bring in a replacement starter and look to the future.

 

God I love that man. Big Snack was a fercious beast. Bias aside, in my view, the best nose tackle I ever saw. He needs to be considered as a hall of famer. One of the most unselfish players you'll ever watch and still got numbers.

 

This is just laughable but why am I not surprised, Tomlin just stands there like a deer in the headlights and always has done. The longer this travesty of regime sleepwalks the franchise into irrelevance the clearer it becomes that Mike Tomlin has absolutely got ther absolute least possible out of the players on this team.

He hasn't done amazing job get them to .500 all this time, he's actively held them back much mroe often than he has drageed them up by a few games.

He isn't known for anything other than vanilla defense and playing in his fears as a HC, no coaching tree proves he has little to offer as an x's and o's guy, and he has always been an absolutely HORRIBLE gameday coach.

It's time the real truth was out, that he has held this team back for a decade at least.

 

Why is everyone ignoring the elephant in the room? We play with 2 DL, we invite the run and yet we cant stop the run. This has to be the dumbest defensive scheme I have ever seen! This is what they game plan for? This is how they want to dictate situational football? This is what they think will be effective? I'm sorry but this borders on ignorance and stupidity. If this is Austins plan, show him the door now! if this is Tomlin's plan, take him with Austin. Highest paid Defense in the league, they are going do historical things! I am sure when we all heard Tomlin utter those words we all thought ....oh no, its the unleash hell quote all over again. Well, different words, same result!!! Please fire this entire staff immediately.
