Although I wish I was still 49, I can understand and relate to his sentiment. Other than reading and posting on this MB, I'm at a point where I don't waste much time, energy, or money on anything steelers related. Thanks for nothing, AR2.

Things changed for me when they didn’t come out of the locker room for the National Anthem. I vowed to never spend a dime of my money (my buddy was mad I didn’t want to join him for the Jets game) on them again. If they’re on tv, I’ll sometimes watch at home. I admit I still care, when I watch, hard to get decades of former passion out of my system.

I stuck with the Steelers through the mid 80s and early 90s. As much as I have thought Tomlin was sinking this ship for years now and don't think he has what it takes, I'll still be a Steelers fan, and will look forward to the next HC, whenever that may be.

Just a few years ago I would blow a head gasket during games when things went awry. Now I just feel like “oh, that just happened. Oh well.” When Rodgers took the strip sack TD yesterday I barely reacted. I knew it would be something, I just didn’t know exactly what.

Wouldn’t say I’m any less of a fan now, I watch all the games and probably always will. But my expectations have been lowered dramatically and the defeats hurt less.

We knew after a few games that the defence had taken a big step back and we also knew that the offence was never designed to carry the team.

It did look for a while like the Ravens and Bengals were going to gift them the division, but even if they do and they back into the playoff they’re just going to get walloped yet again in the WC round. So I’m not even that worried about them making the playoffs.

I still watch the games out of habit but I am totally apathetic about whether they win or lose anymore.

Just something I watch now. If Art don't care, why should I?

Brutal fact is he is the majority owner of the team and he can trot out 0-17 units until the cows come home.

Still as invested as ever but I’ve reached the Heinzmustard level fandom where I can only get excited over the hope of a regime change. Otherwise the team is just never going to get better.

Idk.... my fandom has grown up with me. As a child I lived and died by the games. Priorities changed with adulthood. Watching my own kids play sports and getting to know the other kids and parents have had more of an impact than anything the Steelers have done or not done over the last 30 years.

That really sums up how my wife and I both feel too. It's always something. And there's always an excuse for that something. But there's never any accountability from upper management.

My work schedule has me working a lot of Sundays. So I treasure the times I'm off to be able to watch my Steelers. I've taken vacation days just to be able to watch (and not even for a playoff game).

I'm off next Sunday. The family has something planned for the morning and normally, I'd be trying to figure out how to get out of there and rush home early for kickoff.

Meh. Maybe I'll be home by halftime. IDGAF

I'm 61 years old and I'm a lifelong Steeler fan. I have seen the good the bad the great the terrible. I want us to win Superbowls. And I cannot stand it when we don't-So I might complain and want change --but that doesn't mean I'm not fully behind My team. And anyone who is not fully behind this team-Good or Bad is not really A :steelflag:Fan:herewego!::herewego!::herewego!::herewego!::herewego!:

I've become pretty apathetic and other than night games, all games I watch are on NFL+ so I can watch the 40 minute condensed version. Sometimes I'll watch the first half via normal tv but fast forward like a mad man and slow down for some parts.

But mostly now just watch the condensed version, and even the condensed version last night I wanted to fast forward and it was only 35 minutes long. LOL

I never used to be like that but I have slowly over the the past few years converted to nearly full time condensed game viewing.

But with that said, I don't miss a game and watch games on game day.

I watch to see if they will make the right QB decision at this point. Been like that since 2021.

When a fan base reaches a level of apathy, that's a real problem for an organization. That's when they stop going to games, buying team gear, and tuning in on t.v. I'm still tuning in but the state of the team this year dissuaded me from taking a family trip to Pittsburgh. Like many others here, I used to lose my mind over games but now it's unusually quiet in my house on game day. I guess it is better for my health so there's that.

    Take heart.

When I was 49, James Harrison hadn’t intercepted kurt Warner yet and run it back 100 yards in the most exciting play in Super Bowl history.

And Ben’s last second pass to Santonio Holmes to win the game hadn’t happened yet.

IM A DIEHARD STREELER FAN RIDE OR DIE BABY!! And proud of it! For starters I'm retired Military never leave a falling commander behind! I will be here until the end (6 feet under). I have alot of time and money invested in my fanhood. Being a Steelers is like a marriage to me "until death do we part" my funeral will be Steeler themed it is in my last will and testament! I've enjoyed much success over the years as well as heartache! Especially the last 4 to 5 years I will live to fight another day! Steelers are my passion for real! Every year just like every Steeler Fan I hope for the best but prepare for the worst! Sure they piss me off and curse them out and all then I say "next game" I have a mancave that I would match up to the most diehardest Steeler Fan it is my sanctuary! In closing the Steelers will be back just like phoenix rising out of the ashes and all will be good again! RIDE OR DIE UNTIL ME COLD AND STIFF! GO STEELERS!!:herewego!::herewego!::herewego!:

Yep, I live maybe 15 minutes from where the Chargers and Rams play. First time I haven't gone to a Steelers game that was local to me. Prices of games don't help either.

Honestly, I feel the same as I always have. My introduction to the Steelers was a rudderless franchise with no clear path to getting better.

FWIW, I do not feel that is actually the case. I just think that Steelers fans have totally forgotten what it is like to NOT have a QB. And those saying that 30 years ago the Steelers and others won with other things than a QB...all I can say is that a lot of things were different three decades ago and much like my hair...it ain't coming back.

The Steelers can change out whatever they want to...but until they get a QB...it will end up in the same place.

I've bled black and gold from my fan years starting when I was a kid. I still do and always will. At this point in time I just don't get worked up about poor play or a loss like I normally would. I've just grown to expect it.

I still care, but I'm basically numb at the moment. This team has burnt me out. I've been wanting Tomlin gone since probably 2012 and have been very vocal about that on here ever since. Wanting that kind of change for 13 years is exhausting. Watching it fall apart more and more each passing year while ownership does nothing, that's exhausting. Watching Tomlin bring in dog killers like Vick, that's exhausting. Seeing the team avoid the middle of the field every single year when every good team exploits it, that's exhausting.

I care about the team, but I don't care about the results right now. When they lose, I don't really care. I don't really feel anything. If I miss a game, I don't really care.
I'll care again when ownership shows they care, but I no longer have any faith in the Rooney name.

I get it now. My sons never grew up passionate Pirate fans like I did and it's because they didn't experience a pennant race or even a winning season during their childhood as Pirate fans. So I get why Steelers fans would be less passionate.

I will be a Steelers fan forever, but I'm more inclined now to golf on a nice Sunday rather than feeling like I need to watch every snap.

This year I foolishly had some optimism. That has now deteriorated and only the weather can stop me from hitting the links.

Until Tomlin is gone, it is hard not to be a fair-weather fan. I get why fans are selling tickets.
