This does confirm that there was that uneasiness in the locker room between the offense and Haley despite what everyone was saying. Although you had to think it had to be that way. I know a lot of fans were down on Haley for being a jerk or acting like it is his way or the highway type of mentality but I think he had to be that way regardless of his reputation. If he came in and was just passive go with the flow type we have a repeat of the whole Coach Z fiasco where the players don't respect him barely listen and then coach themselves. He had to establish himself as an authority figure and be a bit of a tool in my opinion and that is bound to lead to some trust issues. So I can see where things would be better now that they have a working dynamic and have established relationships.

Yep. And the bottom line in what he said was that the ACTUAL reason they were 8-8 was NOT the new system but the fact that they were banged up. But based on this interview I'm guessing that Dwyer is on his way out of the rotation. I'm fine with that if he's not gonna put his money where his mouth is anyway.

Seems like everyone has adjusted to him and he to them. I knew having to get used to another OC could be a problem last year, especially one that is the polar opposite of BA, I was just hoping it wouldn't be. Things should be better now though, sounds like everyone is on the same page.

If this oline is healthy we have the weapons to be deadly. We have three one move and gone wrs that catch with their hands and either a tall rookie in Brown or a tall old guy in Plex for the redzone. I like our collection of RBs we have a big hybrid in Bell a pounder in Red and a scat back in LSH. Everything really comes down to the health of the oline because the talent is there. I'm interested to see what the offense looks like with Haley taking input from the players and the players buying into the system.

Is this because of the quote when he says "if you're not built for competition" or something similar?

Well near the end of it it mentions LSH and Batch as the other ones "competing" so that's what made me think that. Also the fact that Dwyer has apparently shown up out of shape and Red actually seems hungry. Not that Dwyer doesn't seem hungry too. Just a different kind ya know?

It seems to me that Red is implying that getting used to Haley was part of the problem, yet, Ben was off to his best start ever until he got injured. I'm going to assume that Red is talking about the run game but that still doesn't account for how he equates this to their 8-8 season.

Well he really said that the bottom line on the 8-8 is that there were so many injuries. I agree with that assessment.

Sounds to me like everybody got way too comfortable with BA's offense. Up until Ben got hurt he was being mentioned for MVP so that tells me that TH's offense does work well if/when everyone buys into it. Get on board or get out of the way should be the motto of the players going into training camp this season.

Yeah they should print up some coach class plane tickets to Cleveland and every player should be threatened with the possibility of that ticket becoming theirs if they don't get their act together.

Yep. But don't forget that before the plane even left the Tarmac they would already be a Pittsburgh West Cardinal back to BA ball.

The problem with what Red is talking about is that when you have a guy you don't like or "uncomfortable with" as Red said, it's magnified once things start to go bad. I'm sure Redman was talking about as a whole, I'd bet anything Wallace wasn't happy with Haley and the way he was used.

i'm just saying even with players injured and subs playing, it doesn't change the fact the wr's dropped balls right in their hands and the rb's dropped balls on the field. that's a personal player problem , not an injury or offensive system problem.

Yeah because Wallace isn't happy with being the most targeted player on the team. LOL. I think he wants to be the ONLY targeted player on the team.

Maybe we should just punt on every 1st down and that would certainly fix the problem of dropped passes and fumbles. LOL. I've always thought it would be awesome if when an offense is playing really crappy if the coach would send out the punting unit on 1st down for a series which would, in effect, bench the WHOLE offense. Sadly, with this past season, we could have done that multiple times.

Definitely, some crucial drops/fumbles cost us a couple victories last season, enough of a difference that we would of made the playoffs. I think without the injuries though, it wouldn't have even been that close. I know all teams have injuries but you reach a point where it does matter, can't be as decimated as we were and expect to keep rolling. And with the players not being behind Haley, just too much to overcome.

Yeah Blount but, Green Bay had 16 or 17 people on IR and beat us in the super bowl in 2010

In Wallace's defense, he's right that Haley misused him. He barely ever sent him deep. We barely tried. I defended Wallace all offseason last year, but I never said to give him Hines Ward's route tree. The whole point of having Mike Wallace, the whole reason he's worth a lot of money, is that he gets open deep all the time, easily, even if they know it's coming. I'm sure Mike was frustrated both on a competitive level and on a "this isn't helping me earn my next contract" level (not that it made a difference).

We did more to beat ourselves than anything GB did to us.

That's true. GB played basically a completely perfect game. We played like crap and handed them the ball 3 times, and still only lost by less than a touchdown. We were the better team, but we choked.
