I didn’t realize it was this bad. Of Tomlin’s 18 years of coaching he only had five seasons of winning playoff games. That means the other 13 seasons we either did not make the playoffs or were one and done. That is a 28% success rate. I knew we had not won a playoff game in 9 years which is bad but I didn’t know it was this bad. His actual playoff record is 8-10 for a 44% success rate. 4 out of 11 playoff appearances we won at least 1 playoff game under Tomlin for a 36% success rate.

Compare Tomlin to Cowher and Noll and it isn’t even close.

Cowher coached 15 seasons and made 10 playoff appearances with a 12-9 record which constitutes a 57% success rate.8 out of 10 seasons we went on to win one playoff game for an 80% success rate. 10 Seasons out of 15 we made the playoffs for a 67% rate of making the playoffs.

Nola coached 23 seasons with 12 playoff appearances with a 16-8 record which constitutes a 67% success rate. 9 out of 12 playoff appearances we went on to win at least one playoff game for a 75% success rate. 12 seasons out of 23 we made the playoffs for a 52% rate of making the playoffs.

Yes, he blows. But he has no losing season which seems to be what the trust fund Rooney cares about.

True..btw the playoffs record of Tomlin is 8-11,not 8-10!

He was at 5-2 in the first 4 years but 3-9 since 2011

In those 18 years we made Playoffs 12 times. Now some of those years you knew we didn't have a chance in first round but others we had the personal to at least make the AFCCG and Mr. Tomlin did not have the troops ready.

Just be thankful Tomlin didn't lead the charge on D-Day;)

It's actually worse than that because he has playoff wins in only 4 of 18 seasons (2008, 2010, 2015, 2016). Not to mention this is year 19 and it not looking favorable for the trend to change from what we've seen for the past 9 years anyway.

Yet there are folks who will insist that he’s a good coach, and it’s not even debatable to them. The fear that “oh my god, we could end up being even worse that mediocre for a period of time” runs strong with some, including unfortunately the owner.

Tomlin won't be able to add to the loss column on his playoff record this year, because Steelers won't sniff the playoffs.

This will probably be the first time in many years that the Steelers will be eliminated from the playoffs before the final game of the season.
Just looked it up. In 2012 we were eliminated from the playoffs before our last game.

    It could always be worse......lol

The Chip Kelly era in Las Vegas had serious issues during the 11 games it lasted.

Kelly, who was hired as Pete Carroll's offensive coordinator in February, repeatedly botched play calls, leading to dysfunction in the offense, reports NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The 62-year-old reportedly called plays that weren't installed in the Raiders' offense or in the game plan. He would apparently also forget to tag a motion call for wide receivers, confusing quarterback Geno Smith at the line of scrimmage.

Las Vegas' offense struggled mightily with Kelly at the helm, ranking 30th in success rate and last in EPA/play, per Ben Baldwin's database. Quarterbacks coach Greg Olson was named interim offensive coordinator.

Kelly came to Las Vegas after a one-year stint as Ohio State's offensive coordinator. The Raiders' front office made him the highest-paid coordinator in the league with an annual average salary of $6 million over three years, according to The Athletic's Ted Nguyen. Only three players on the team's offense made more money than Kelly in 2025.

This was Kelly's first time back in the NFL after head coaching stints with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers from 2013 to 2016. He served as UCLA head coach for six years before joining the Buckeyes.

The 2-9 Raiders face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

What does this have to do with the thread? It’s a different team and one season. We are talking about Tomlin and the Steelers for 18 years.

Not to start an endless debate again, but the funniest/lamest excuse I've heard is "Playoffs are a new season, and who cares if we win any games without winning the SB. Playoff wins mean nothing if you don't win the SB". Sad...
