We knew the risks of bringing in a 42 year old Qb and having the defense reliant on an over 30 OLB who came off a disappointing season a year ago. It was Tomlin’s hail Mary to win in the playoffs and its not looking good. Like a gimmick play, you look like a genius if it works….but if it doesnt….

Hell, if Gruden was so great, why did it take like 8 years for someone to hire him after Tampa Bay fired him? And then his second stink with the Raiders was less than stellar.

At least Joe Burrows is coming back in time to play the Ravens this weekend. That might help the Steelers.

That will free up a whole fall of Sundays for me. An offense led by Cousins in a Tomlin offense throwing sideline passes under ten yards will be utter crap. :poopy::poopy::poopy::poopy:

it depends on what we will have to pay for a QB. if it's a free agent we could be looking at 9 players costing about 200+ million of the 279 million on hand. JPJ will have to be paid. washington will have to be paid. jones 5th year option will cost. that's 12 players eating up a big bunch of money with 43 others to fill the roster and draftee's and practice squad. prices are not going down anytime soon. we also have about 8 million in dead money from minkah and the punter johnson. right now we have 41 players signed for 2026.

gruden is a smart cookie. he could be a very good OC and work well with QB's as their coach. patricia is a pretty good DC. munchak as we know is a good O-line coach. put those 3 on anyone's staff and it would be a very favorable situation. hire a head coach and let these guys change we do what we do. things would change greatly.

Use to watch old Dandy Don and Cosell, Frank Gifford as a kid growing
up . There was so much excitement watching Monday night football.
Steelers were great, a kid in love with football. I am in the 4th quarter of my life
Now, I hope I see another Steeler Superbowl win.

The guy hasn't won a playoff game since 2002 and in his 3.25 year tenure with Raiders he finished 9 games below. 500. There's a reason why he was out of the league for damn nearca decade after Tampa fired him and why he's still been out of the league since the Raiders fired him. His last gig was a consulting gig with a club in Europe. Guys like Chris Shula and Mike LaFleur are a thousand times better options, despite being unproven as a HC.

Wasn't he hosting Monday night football for the decade he didn't coach? He must have had offers in that time.

I totally agree. I personally think we should hire Kubiak as the offensive mind. Let him bring in a guy that he trusts to call the plays in his offense and offer Patricia the reigns on the defense (if he even has the desire to leave a pretty good gig at OSU). If we want a defensive HC, go after Minter or Flores.

I suppose there is a bright side of things. Once the Steelers are eliminated from a postseason spot you can enjoy watching stress-free football all weekend ;)

I guess the QB part is the big question mark. Can't think of a FA QB that I would want to pay big money to. So currently it's not an issue and may not be for a few years if they go the rookie route.

    My guesses follow most models...

My list of Veteran Coaches & Retreads
    • Mike McCarthy – Former Cowboys HC, Super Bowl winner, strong candidate for teams seeking experience.
    • Brian Flores – Vikings DC; previously Dolphins HC, respected defensive mind.
    • Vance Joseph – Broncos DC; prior HC experience in Denver.
    • Matt Nagy – Chiefs OC; former Bears HC, offensive pedigree.
    • Arthur Smith – Steelers OC; ex-Falcons HC, known for run-heavy schemes.
    • Steve Spagnuolo – Chiefs DC; former Rams HC, defensive veteran.
    • Kliff Kingsbury – Commanders OC; former Cardinals HC, still draws interest despite mixed results.
My list of Rising Coordinators (No Prior HC Experience)
    • Joe Brady – Bills OC; creative offensive mind, linked to QB development roles.
    • Todd Monken – Ravens OC; highly regarded for Lamar Jackson’s resurgence.
    • Klint Kubiak – Seahawks OC; strong offensive results, McVay/Kubiak coaching tree.
    • Chris Shula – Rams DC; defense ranked near top in EPA/play, McVay tree pedigree.
    • Jesse Minter – Chargers DC; rising defensive star, Harbaugh connection.
    • Jeff Hafley – Packers DC; former Boston College HC, strong defensive résumé.
    • Aden Durde – Seahawks DC; intriguing candidate, first British-born coordinator in NFL.
    My list of Wildcard Names
    • Bill Belichick – Could surface if a team wants a legendary figure for a short-term rebuild.
    • Jon Gruden – Mentioned as a possible return candidate, though controversial.
    • College Coaches – Names like Marcus Freeman (Notre Dame), Lane Kiffin (Ole Miss), and David Shaw (ex-Stanford) are floated, but most remain longshots.
Which ones for Pittsburgh? None of the above.
