This is his golden ticket to the HOF! Hard to believe just because of this little streak, this will be his ticket to the NFL Hall of Fame!

We kinda thought the game would be decided by turnovers. And it was.

The game was about even until the last Steeler turnover that we never recovered from.

I was hoping for the play Mason had when he led them on a run to the playoffs a few years ago.

That was my first breaking point. I called for Tomlin to be fired after that game and again when that season ended. I think he has elevated some bad teams that snuck into the playoffs since then, which got me to waver, but I'm back to saying it's time to go. Sunday's game was a great example of everything that is right and wrong with Tomlin's teams, mostly the wrong. They battled and found ways to keep a game close against a better team, but that team was better because of the systemic issues that are Tomlin's fault. I am convinced he refuses to deal with players who might be even a little difficult. Instead of working with them and finding ways for them to succeed, as I think he did with Antonio Brown for years before the eventual meltdown, he wants them jettisoned even if the return value is pennies on the dollar. The defensive scheme is a joke. The offensive scheme isn't much better. There is rarely accountability for players or assistant coaches. There are sloppy mistakes at key moments. Instead of trying to fix those systemic issues, Tomlin counts on little patches that help sneak out enough victories to avoid losing records and sneak into the playoffs. That approach isn't cutting it.

The loss to the Bears and the monster game Pickens put up for the Cowboys yesterday combined to illustrate why the Steelers will once again struggle to stay over .500, and if by some miracle they make the playoffs, they will exit quickly. For all his faults, Pickens was their most talented offensive player. Tomlin's approach relies on great individual effort overcoming largely predictable schemes with the occasional cute wrinkle. If you're going to do that, you can't give away elite talents like the Steelers did with that trade.

It felt like there was no plan. To acquire guys like Rodgers and Slay, who would theoretically help only this season, and then dump Pickens on the cheap made no sense.

Like last year, we all knew going into the season that (1) we weren't a great team and would likely be fighting for a WC spot and (2) the season was easier at the beginning of the year and harder at the end of the year (opposite of the Rats).
