I guess if you're going to hope for things that aren't going to happen (getting rid of Tomlin), you might as well also hope that Rooney hires Gruden.

They aren't hiring Gruden. They shouldn't hire Gruden. People need to stop with that foolishness.

Yeah, why would anyone want to upgrade a mediocre coach and staff, when better choices are available? If you ain't winning, you're losing!!!

We should probably just give MT another extension. That’s the right move.

Feels like “it’s over” means more than that.

Again, this team will look totally different next season.
Probably more on the defensive side.

Not very likely but what would be foolish about having a football mind like Grudens on the staff. Mac didnt necessarily say as HC.

Gruden is not an upgrade, and Rooney isn't hiring a guy with his character issues.

Gruden is an upgrade in all facets. We can agree to disagree on that but I believe its foolish to think Tomlin would outcoach Gruden. To me its like saying the MLB average batting average is .238, Tomlin is about a .245 hitter in comparison. If we have a chance to bring in a .290-.300 hitter, your saying nah, I will stick with the 245 guy. To me that's just not smart.

Gruden doesnt fit the mold of a Steelers coach, that being said we need to replace Tomlin. Hes been done for 8 years now.

Chucky? Or brother of Chucky? Both are downgrades from where we are currently.

Thinking Gruden is a .290 hitter is what is not smart. He is an overrated coach who is far more trouble than he's worth. He won a Super Bowl with Tony Dungy's roster in 2002 and has had maybe one good season since then. His second stint with the Raiders was a disaster. He hasn't coached since resigning in disgrace five games into the 2021 season.

Also, there is no way Rooney would hire a guy whose racist and sexist comments have become so public. It just isn't realistic. That's not what they do.

This isn't a defense of Tomlin. This is pointing out that Gruden is not an upgrade at all.

Using your analogy, we're talking about a guy thats a .240 hitter. Gruden was great 20+ years ago; notsogreat today.

It's crazy how people don't realize that he was just given an extension.

He's also the 3rd highest paid HC in the NFL.

    And coaching contracts are guaranteed.

And Rooney isn't "rich" like other owners.

So he's not going to light all that guaranteed money on fire.

He waited until Canada only had ~ 1/2 a season left. And Canada was literally making ~ 1/10 of what Tomlin makes.

Better solution to this is both sides agree to go their separate ways and the Rooney's help get him a job in the media.
