I have to admit I was thinking the same thing. Would the Steelers welcome Fields back for a league minimum contract if the Jets release him?

Fields signed a 2 year contract for $40 million. $30 million of that is guaranteed. Next year only $10 million will be guaranteed, and the Jets could save the other $10 million if they release him.

I know it is crazy, but last year I thought Fields was showing improvement in Arthur Smith's offence, before Tomlin replaced him with Russell Wilson.

I think Fields days as a starter will end with this season. If he ends up back here it will be as a backup.

People can say what they want about Kordell, but theres no denying he was electric with the ball in his hands. Seriously mismanaged by cowher and the various coordinators

They never should have tried to let him play quarterback

Safety maybe Receive4 maybe bu5 h3 definitely did not have what it takes to be a quarterback

He needs to learn routes or become a grad assistant at OSU; his days of being a QB are over.

Teams always look for backup quarterbacks

He and Kenny the Coward will find backup jobs somewhere

I couldnt disagree more. Cowher, tried making him into pocket passer. That wasnt his game. I would bet Had they put together an offense similar to what the ravens did for jackson his career arc would have been drastically different.

He's going to be cheap again after being bad in NY.

He was probably best in the the small sample he played with us.

And he's a good backup at worst. Kind of like when Mason came back.

We're currently a team without a QB for next year.

    Draft class not looking great.

If our QB room floor next season is Mason/Fields/Howard and a real competition, it's not really worse than we've had recently. I'd prefer this and waiting another year to drafting another Pickett and losing 2 years to figure out we didn't want him.

Why can't Fields be a Taysom Hill type of asset. Backup QB, RB and WR?

Last year it looked like we were going to get this, but then Fields got hurt when he was coming in to run a QB sneak.

Finding a franchise QB involves cycling thru arms til you find one.
Didn’t we already cycle thru him?
