In the last month, Washington has overtaken Smith in snap %. Smith still runs 2X as many routes as Washington:

He is fun to watch. I do cringe though because they all go low to tackle him. He is one acl
tear away from being a LT. if that happens sooner than later I am moving him to LT and Broderick to LG. It’s nice having him out there at TE though because it literally is like having an extra lineman. When we add Anderson to the mix I don’t understand how we don’t get four yards every run. I feel like there is a lot more juice to squeeze from that alignment both in the run and the pass.

Not that the Titans wouldn't want Watt, but I don't think they are that close to being any good that his contract would make sense for them.

Also, I don't know about Mendoza...his sobbing after the Penn State TD was cringy for me. :hmm:

    Oh and PAY DARNELL!

I’d pay my wife to turn a Pickett jersey back into a Maddox jersey

All I can say, that catch and run he had was the best thing I've seen in football in 20 years or so.
    Mt Washington is for real...

Stack 2 jumbo TE one one side. Have one block like a FB and throw to the other in the flat.

Could Washington be the only TE to make it back next year?

Jonnu Smith just signed a 2 year $16 million contract. Steelers would save $7 million if released at the end of the season: 2026 Dead Cap $3.8 million
Pat Freiermuth signed a 4 year, $48,400,000 contract in 2024. Steelers would save $4.9 million in 2026 if released at the end of the season: 2026 Dead Cap $6.3 million

I wanted the Steelers to make a play on Arthur Smith's TE in Atlanta Kyle Pitts this offseason. Pitts should be a free agent for 2026.

EDIT: Funny I completely forgot about Connor. :)

No, we will keep them all, and sign Pitts, and play 4 TEs. LoL

Washington was asked on a podcast yesterday about what his exact weight is and he said 311. No wonder you see 185 lb corners fleeing in terror when he breaks into the clear.

He was our STEAL of a 2nd pick in the 3rd round that year.

I took a bit of heat here in this message board when the day begore AND the night of when I was clamoring for us to take him earlier when we picked JPJ and then Benton thinking he’d surely be gone by our pick at the 98th (I think) spot.

When we landed him I was ecstatic.

The next day I was basically told to chill since he was just going to be a blocker for us and not see many passes.

While that was correct, it’s mostly because this coaching staff didn’t prioritize his full potential sooner when lots of other better coaches would have been scheming him up much sooner. By now he’d be an even bigger threat if prioritized.

I could be wrong, but I’m thinking Rogers had more to do with his involvement than any of our coaches.

LoL. Never. I'm just a huge fan of Washington, and I have always believed if You can get a 3 TE set working in today's NFL, it would be hard to defend because of matchups.

Actually, and you can go back, and look. I accused K. Pickett , and Justin Fields of hating him. You can send a guy out into a route 20 times a game, but if the Qb doesn't see them, or acknowledge them, it matters very little. I seen both look right at him, and take a sack instead of throwing it to him.

They showed the clip of him stating his weight was 311 on ESPN this morning and the panel went crazy. Mike Greenberg said he would give Washington the ball on every single play. Who can stop a 311 lb man with a big head of steam charging at you?

As much as I hate them, I have to give props (grudgingly) to the Chargers for using a really big TE who finished his career with the most receptions in team history. More than all the TEs and receivers in the "Air Coryell" years. How hard would it be to come up with plays for Washington?
