This board will never hear the end of it if Bray goes onto be a stud QB :lolol:

Meanwhile, our very own Landry is questionable to even make the team. For the record, I think the writer is nuts, I don't see any way that the Steelers will cut ties with a 4th round pick used on a QB that was seen as a reach by many. I think they go the extra mile to give this kid a chance to work things out. It's also ridiculously early to suggest that he might not make the team already but hey, it's the off season, need to fill pages. My prediction is we break camp with him as the #3.

of course grad is going to be 2nd this year and next. JPW has been in the league for 4 years, so at this juncture he should be ahead of jones. thats at least 4 years of pro practice JPW has under his belt, so i don't know why it would be a big suprise. what KC considers a good qb to be may be alot different then here. they have had some pretty bad ones lately. if JPW beats him out then so beit. he was a decent qb at alabama. grad needs to learn this offense too, so i'm sure the coaches are focusing on grad then landry or JPW right now. seems like a none issue.

Bray is athletic but doesn't seem like the brightest bulb, and he is really raw coming out. Its not like he is an undervalued guy. There was legit concerns about him. I can't see a scenario where he turns into an elite QB.

If Landry doesn't make the team, he surely will not clear waivers, and it will be such a horrible pick by Colbert because there were still a lot of other talented people left in the draft at that point.

Landry may not pan out, but he will still be here at least until the final cuts in camp. Remember, this is football in shorts now. 4th round draft picks seldom get cut no matter how poor they show. Especially a QB. Heck, look how long Dennis Dixon hung around and he couldn't throw for crap.

Jones seems to have been a bit rabbit-in-the-headlights since he got here, if reports are to be believed.

Can't blame him, in some ways - he's walking into basically a competition for number 3 slot, with all the pressure of being a reasonably high draft pick for that spot on the depth chart - but hopefully time and practice will see him settle down.

Ben talked about how difficult it was to get used to a new offense. Landry is trying to figure out so many things, you can't blame him for being less than stellar. NFL speed, a new offense, new receivers for the most part, a new location, a new team, new teammates, new coaches, new terminology, expectations, contracts, etc. I for one will give the kid a break and let him figure it out.

Seriously. It's the first week of June. He gets a free pass from scrutiny from me until preseason games. Even then, it's okay if he sucks. Guys like Russell Wilson are freaks. As long as Landry looks like a mostly functional football player by then, he's doing okay.

LOL! I hate to say I told you so....what am I saying, no I don't! :taunt:

In all seriousness, I thought Bray would have been a nice pickup. I think he has more upside than virtually any quarterback that came out this year but he also carries a great deal of risk. He would have been worth a mid-round pick but he's an absolute steal as an undrafted free agent. I've mentioned this before, but there are those analysts that thought that if he had stayed in school and kept his nose clean his senior year, he may have been the NUMBER ONE overall draft pick in 2014. Pittsburgh would have been ideal for him. Sit behind Ben for a few years and learn how to be a professional and we possibly have our next franchise quarterback waiting in the wings without having to expend franchise quarterback capital (early first round draft pick) on him.

I hope Jones can develop into a quality starter at some point. It's way too early to be writing him off and it's ludicrous to do so!

Let me just clarify my opinion so it is clear.

First, I think it is just dumb to be critical of a guy at this point.

Second, I don't think you can overlook Landry's resume completely. People forget that had he come out a year earlier, he might have been a top round pick.

Third, Bray would have been a nice pickup for a backup understudy.

Fourth, I would not have picked up Landry in this draft and would have used our resources in the draft to get better at other positions.

i would have took barret jones withthe high four and shamarko with the original fourth
but if you worried that shamarko would have gone than quinton patton instead landry than bray or dysert instead of justin brown later

Does anybody have any updates on Barrett Jones' foot surgery rehab? He would have been a nice get, but he can't play in the NFL on one good foot.
