Dungy and shanahan did it with multiple teams.... cowher's only body of work is with us (head coach at least)... and while that body of work is significant, dungy and shanahan may go higher based on that.... not to discredit cowher, because in my mind, he's definitely higher, but the days of coaches holding their position with the same team for decades is long gone... you won't find a tom landry, don shula, chuck noll in today's nfl, so for some of the lower positions on the list, it might just come down to who was successful for multiple teams.

Cowher stubbornly stuck with Kordell much to the shagrin of many of us. He also did not really want to draft Ben which would have been a horrible draft mistake. Cowher was a great coach, but I'm not sure I'd consider him one of the greatest. Too many missed opportunities.

Cowher was a hell of a coach, if he wasn't so stubborn in regards to QB's, he could have won a couple more SB's, I think people forget how much his teams were decimated by FA defections each year and still put together dominant teams just about every year. Thats a talented coach. I'd rank him ahead of Dungy for sure, would put him ahead of Shanahan too but can see the argument if someone wanted to put Shanahan ahead of him.

They have Chuck Noll at #5. They admit he should be higher, and that "he built The Greatest Team Ever, but they have him at #5. He is #1 in my book, although I could see them putting Lombardi #1. :yeehaw:

I see the argument though about giving the top spots to a coach who has proven he can win with more than one team.

Why??? What does that have to do with anything??? Teams change every year...you can go from first to worst in one year???

Shanahan lucked out and had Elway and didn't really succeed much anywhere else, yet. Other than NY, Parcels left every team when the going got tough, right when they were on the cusp....
