Yes backing into the playoffs and getting beat by 30 in the WC game. Good times for sure.

This is very possible that it was the call of Tomlin to trade Pickens...Tomlin has been way longer at his current job that Khan,so he has more power...I agree that the fact they had no replacement for Pickens was incompetant of his part but I had no problem to trade Pickens despite his great talent because he is a major headcase

Yes it’s true and you seem very impressed. I’ll save you a spot at the NHALS parade in January.

almost half of the league make the playoffs since 2021.They make the playoffs as the 7th seed twice. They are stuck in the middle and before this year the steelers were ranked 27th among the teams with the best young talent

    https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...s-25-young-players-texans-commanders-seahawks

They need to improve or the result will be the same, like a 9-10 wins type team

Given that so many people could be involved in the decisions (owner, coaches, GMs, scouts) and looking at the results over the last 10 years, I see two possibilities:

    1. Steelers either run a stupid democracy with too many voices being heard which tends to result in mediocre decisions to appease everyone, *or*
    2. they run a directive regime where one (or two) people set goals and the rest of the gang drives for those goals.

I personally think it's #2 and it's the owner saying "give me non-losing seasons", and then coaches and GM make that happen.

The owner LOVES Tomlin and has rewarded Tomlin massively for the results of the last 10+ years... what does that tell you? If you got some dude to cut your lawn and you didn't like the result, would you give him more work and MORE money??

So we can have all of these threads to blame everyone, but there really should be one person to blame: the trust fund grand kids of the original Rooney.

A younger Cam, TJ and Highsmith. Should have got those guys a ring with Ben in 2017. Damn shame to waste that year.

My point was if the steelers want to become a true super bowl contender once again, they need a full rebuilding and stop to sign every old players available.Take 1-2 bad season and try to built a good young team

Regardless if Kahn wanted to keep Pickens there is nothing in Tomlin's contract that says he has to play him. Tomlin's doghouse can be cavernous.

Listen to the drama in Philly with Brown and his weekly gripes about lack of targets. Don't need that added to the Steelers problems.

The picture is clear. Khan is not the executive type. There are now three years of decisions to play Pickett, Fields, Russ, and now Rodgers. He goes along for a ride. He is not a decision maker. I don't know if I would even trust him to be a consultant on decisions.
He is a scout. He can consult on that. A good one.

Colbert was definitely a high exec type. Tomlin looked puny sitting and talking next to him.
The president or vice president will be at the helm of that process. One of the Rooneys. Khan may tag along and help because it's a nice thing to do. That's my expectation.

There is no link they have repeated it many times on podcasts, they also said his teammates and coaches wanted him gone.
