I've seen a lot of folk on Twitter claim that it's time for Dan III to take over as owner. I kinda don't see him becoming owner right away; however, I do think him becoming Steelers President this offseason makes a ton of sense, especially considering that the draft is in town. Its a perfect passing of the torch moment for the family.

I don’t think you go into next year with all the draft capital and salary cap space and try to run it back. Nor do you draft a franchise QB with Tomlin having two years left on his contract. They set up next year to truly be the start of a rebuild. I honestly believe they went all in this year because Tomlin doesn’t plan on being around next year and they w ant to go for it with the tenured vets they do have under contract on defense.

I believe the only way we would have ran it back with Rodgers and Tomlin next year is if we would have gone far in the playoffs this year. I just don’t see that happening now. With all that being said if we can’t get a near sure thing at QB in the draft then I really would prefer we do not reach for one and use the draft to build out the team and get younger and faster. They can always move back in the draft and accumulate future picks to position themselves for the following season to draft their QB.

my fear is with Tomlin at the helm he is going to force a QB in the draft and we will end up with another Kenny Pickett situation. I don’t see Tomlin being around long term so why would you waste a rebuild on his philosophies and culture.

The Rooneys should be focused on getting a young innovative offensive mind preferably from the Mcvay tree and go hire a -remixer DC and Oline coach. We have the building blocks on offense only needing a LG and WR as well as a QB and OC. In defense we really need to revamp the whole secondary and add another young DT. We have the ILB’s and edges. I would however consider trading Watt if Tomlin leaves to be fair to him and to try to get some draft capital and lessen the drain on the salary cap.

I believe Tomlin and the Steelers going separate ways next year is more likely than not just based on how we accumulated the draft picks and brought in all these \veteran superstars this year on one year deals. I would be very surprised if Tomlin is back. They both need a clean break from each other. I won’t be excited for the draft or the rebuild next year if Tomlin is back. I believe it would set this franchise back years if we did that.

Yea, perhaps it is hopespeak, but Dan II is pushing mid 70s and I'd imagine he's ready to relinquish some of these roles and spend time with the family. Dan III would get a ton of autonomy in this arrangement but Art gets final say, and id imagine he'd go along with Dan more often than not.

I really hope they do this. Dan Rooney has been a weak owner. Certainly not as effective as his old man. They need to get younger across the board with players and coaches.

I'll believe it when I see it. Tomlin not coaching Steelers in 2026, that is.

I said this on this board in 2022, and it's still the same thing, but it's time for a complete rebuild with a new coaching staff.

Currently, this is a team that has no chance of winning a Super Bowl or even a playoff game(unless they get very lucky) It's also a team that has acquired too many old players in recent years (especially since Khan became our GM) in an attempt to remain competitive, but with this strategy, it's impossible to have a top-10 draft pick and a chance to have a true franchise quarterback.

Their floor is too high, and their ceiling is too low. At some point, they'll have to wake up and have a complete rebuild, even if it means one or two bad seasons, instead of continuing to win 9-10 games a year and having a low ceiling.

Tomlin's time with us is over. He could be successful elsewhere, but after 19 years with the same team, and for several years now the results have been mediocre; it's time for a change, since at least around 2020.

Unfortunately under this scenario Art II would still be the owner. Remember, he took over the role of president around 02-03 and didn't become owner unto Dan became an ambassador so its certainly possible for him to remain owner for the next 10 years while Dan III runs the day to day operations.

I agree. I wouldn’t rush into drafting a new QB unless the right one is there for us to take him. We’re not gonna get Mendoza or anyone that goes in the top 10. Ext year. I would build out the rest of the roster and get the coaching situation straightened out. They can start Howard or Rudolph next year if they have too.

I don’t think Tomlin is wired for going through and developing a young QB. Honestly I don’t think he wants too at this point in his own career. That’s a big reason why I think he will leave. The Rooney essentially gave him everything he wanted this year and it isn’t working. There really is nothing left to do other than they both part ways.

I clean house coaches and players who don't contribute. This team and organization is stale and has been for far too long. We need to get younger with our own players instead of other teams has beens.

I'm really worried about drafting a QB next year.... if they don't get it right it could really mess things up.

We need a few nice players from next years draft, not just breaking the bank for a single QB.

If you don’t believe Art Rooney II can run the team, do you trust him to hire the next coach?

I just don’t want a parade of Robert Saleh, Mike McDaniel, Brian Daboll, Brian Callahan type cycling through the next decade

No matter what we need help at the WR spot. I wanted Emeka Egbuka. My target this draft is Makai Lemon. Then we need to work on our packages if we still have all the TE'S , those 3 guys are not productive enough for their skill levels .IMO it is the Coaching and designs plus Metcalf is a monster as well ,so we should be able to bully Defenses with a monster package..I would use the Nasty package where the TE'S take the large split this gives you another running lane and more room for them to work the middle on pass plays..

This is an easy one. If we don’t win a playoff game this year. Clean house and fire Tomlin and staff. Being in new fresh blood and schemes and do total rebuild. Fore cheap ass owner too but that’s not happening. Smallest coaching staff in nfl
