He does this stuff all the time it’s why he’s never had a losing season. We will win 9 or 10 games and either barely miss the playoffs or get beat by 30 against Buffalo or Baltimore.

Nope not me unless you consider yesterday’s game the Super Bowl for the Steelers! Man I am 57 years old and I’ve been a steeler fan my whole life. They are my first sports love. I am scared to death that I may not witness another SB appearance, much less a win before I check out. I didn’t think about crap like this until friends my age and family started giving up the ghost. I just want to see that black and gold just one more time in my life which hopefully is still a little ways away but I do not believe Tomlin can get them there. He is to predictable and to conservative and will not change his tactics! Yesterday was awesome but it’s one game! Can we do that every game? We had 5 turnovers and only won by 7! Not good IMO

He got a good win Sunday.

This season has been weird, team that should win lose, teams that should lose win.
    Nobody is winning consistently.
How that tie to Mike Tomlin? Well, there were a lot of things I saw the Defense do very, very wrong... bad design and/or bad calls turned into very lucky outcomes.
The Colts are a very good team and just were not firing at all.
    • Who could imagine Johnathan Taylor with just 45 yards?
    • The Colts with 6 Turnovers?
All that despite some pretty crappy defensive calls.

Our run game was still anemic.
Warren is the only back that runs with any kind of vision. We really lack a bell cow type of RB... I still think of Warren as a complimentary type RB
But then again, this year is weird.
While Taylor is the best, Cook (Buf) is flat out awesome too.

    Back to topic.
Tomlin team looks like it has talent to win games but they seemed to not be on the same page.
    That's usually coaching problems.
But there's hurdles that need to be recognized.
    • DB's are banged all up. Some of those zones were just terrible. Still, they came through. (Pressure for unexpected Highsmith helped ALOT)
    • We really do not have a 2nd WR that can step up to #1 when #1 is covered. Austin did some really good things but I figure him a #3 on a lot of teams.
Rogers also keeps us from drowning too.

What's it all add up to? Well, Sunday Tomlin was a hero. In the NFL, that lasts for about an hour after the final whistle.
He playing the Chargers in LA on Prime-Time TV Sunday. The Chargers are no joke.
Win it, and he probably gets another week of accolades.
Lose it, people will burn his effigies.
The NFL stands for "Not For Long" for a reason. :)

You’re not wrong. Nine wins this season is optimistic. In fact, it would defy logic to think that Tomlin is going to suddenly become competent after nearly 2 decades and provide a strategy that would deliver positive results.

We’ll continue to not make necessary adjustments, play down to inferior teams, and get annihilated by teams that have good coaching staffs.

I'm not worried about Tomlin it's the players like Watt and Heyward that concern me are they going to show up down the stretch.

The Steelers beat the Colts and Vikings who people thought were going to out coach them, there is no playing down to inferior competition Green Bay has lost to the Browns and Panthers.

I don't know what you're disagreeing with if you don't think the best players showing up and making plays is more important than the HC.

I've listened to all sports talk this morning regarding Steelers on ESPN, NFL Network and FS1... and they are all saying the same thing which I agree with. Steelers rely too much on a steep turnover margin to beat good teams. Examples: Patriots and Colts. This sh!t ain't gonna fly in the playoffs OR after Thanksgiving.

The Steelers defense has forced 16 turnovers so far this year but 11 of them were in the two wins against the Patriots and Colts. They only forced 5 in the other 6 games.

Everything is skewed to offense. Can't touch receivers. Can't hit them too hard (Ramsey with another unnecessary roughness yesterday). There's been 6,266 pts scored thus far. It's how the NFL and Vegas want the game to be played. This isn't your father's NFL. Any team that happens to get good QB play in a game has a chance to win but the elite QBs are the consistent ones. The Steelers will still have to match up to Mahomes, Allen, LJ, and Burrow (if he comes back) to have any hope for postseason success. Rodgers five years ago would have been a great matchup against them. Now the Steelers have to hope the defense can keep them in games and Rodgers does just enough.

The NFL in general does have the NBA type approach where 3-0 type games don't happen.
I see them pushing the 41-47 type games.

But the Steelers in that scenario need to get on the bus by reallocating their talent acquisition to less defense and more offense.

Nah, its just typical Tomlin "Jekyll and Hyde" stuff. Nothing that has happened the last 3 weeks should surprise anyone that has watched Steelers football for the past decade. We were all prepared for the yearly Tomlin 3 game slide, but got a pretty dominant win against a good team (the team that was considered the best in the conference for the first half of the season). It wouldn't shock me to see us beat the Bills or Lions and find a way to lose to the Browns or Dolphins later this year.... its just what we come to expect.

I hate/like Tomlin no more or less than normal the past 3 weeks. Its just.... not surprising.

I am fine with the money allocation when it comes to offense vs. defense because that is entirely dependent on having a franchise QB. If we draft someone (or Howard, whatever) that ends up being a stud... then we're dishing out 50+ million a year and then building the team around helping that guy win us the big one (which means investment in the OL, WR, etc.). In that scenario we have less money to spend defensively, and it will all work itself out.

Bears are the Steelers of the NFC. They are winning games, but it won't sustain through December and playoffs.
