I may be reading too much into it, but personally I like the sense that he's saying "sort out the contracts as and when, get on with playing in the meantime." Healthy attitude to have, if I've read what he's saying right.

I have to believe that the Steelers will get him signed, I don't think there is anyway they would have forfeited a 3rd pick otherwise.

sanders is a very good receiver and we will be glad we have him here. his only trouble were his injuries and it seems the feet problems are finally well behind him now. that has held him back some,as late as last year. healing of surgical procedures takes a long time. they may play during it but the full healing can take up to a year after. i'm glad he's back and hope we keep him.

I second the motion Mac, also people tend to forget that Manny's mom also passed away not so long ago
that also had to hurt in his development and he would need time to grieve.

I like sanders as well but I don't see any reason why he stays other than wanting to be a steeler. He definitely won't stay because of the money because if he has a break out season or even a slightly better season than last year someone is going to pay him more than the Steelers can afford.

I hope he stays but I would be surprised if he does.

i'm not sure we can't afford him 5859. we are paying him what now, 2.5 mil? that all goes towards the cap. if they can sign him longterm, that hit could probably go down. if they can't sign him we will get a nice comp pick hopefully and plug in our new guy in wheaton or brown or.......................our new draft pick. it is the offenses turn next year.;)

And if he doesn't say that a contract is being worked on, I'm sure we'd be hearing that the Steelers want to dump him because of the lack of contract talks... If someone wants to spin this in a bad way, there is no right answer.

There's a big difference between Sanders andWallace's situation. Wallace already had several very productive yrs with a lot of long flashy TD receptions. He was a hot and known commodity going into last yr. Sanders has not had near that level of production and has to have a good yr to become a hot commodity. He'll need to show teams he can stay healthy.

We know that and I agree. but does he????-----He has seen nothing but $$$ ever since Wallace was signed and he thinks he's every bit as good because of New England wanting him ( for peanuts) and the Steelers matching until they could try to get a long term deal.

i believe if he pulls any of that, he will be replaced. we have some good young guys that are hungry and a couple of vets that ain't done yet.

i can see his point in a way everyone else has seemed to have gotten paid, but when it's his turn there's no money. this is also his 4th year. that's an average career in the NFL. he's due to make a nice contract to stay, but nowhere near wallace's offer and browns for what he's done so far, but it's been a decent career here for a #3.

They should make receivers wear dresses and tiara's.

Disagree, for starters, his agent said it, playing the agent role and secondly, I think Sanders is going to have a big year, I don't see him tanking it like Wallace did, he may leave for greener pastures but I think he will give it his all while he is here.

Personally not sold on Sanders, but I could be completely wrong. I think he will have an inflated year and potentially NEVER see those numbers again.
