i could be totally wrong on this but i think batch will be completely healed this year. i'm not so sure he was last year. it was just 1 year removed from his knee injury and they ran the crap out of him in preseason last year. most backs aren't like AP.

this offense if and when they open it up some will play way more to his stregnths then punching it up between the guards. our linemen this year will show us how this offense was intended to run and i think barron will make a much better showing this year. he'll be way more trusting with that knee. now if he makes the team or not, i couldn't say but he's got PS eligability left i think. dwyer and redman don't.

i'm still saying bell, redman,LSH,mcneal and johnson will be the backfield with batch on the PS for a year as our slightly vet reserve.

i got very high hopes for mcneal. he's listed small, but the kid is built. he can punch it up inside better then most think, but thats not what we really need him for. when pouncey and DD get outside and are leading up field, we will be looking for guys with the ability to follow and make quick cuts off those blocks. we are going to see a whole different run game then we have been used to. we are going to see more of a passing game to our backs too, then just dump offs. dwyer is going to have his work cut out to make this team.

i really hate the fact that dwyer and redman wait til their contract years to think they need to put their work in. i want guys hungry all the time to get better. guys willing to show from day one they want the job. guys that work to get better every year if they start or not. thats what the great players do, but hey thats me.

I think you want LSH unless you find someone else to find that role. Whichever of Redman or Dwyer makes the team can play on downs 1 and 2 and give Bell a rest. You need a guy who can come in on 3rd down to give him a rest as Redman would not be that guy and like you said Batch we aren't sold on yet. He is a good special teams guy, and I think the new offense fits him better, but we will have to see him in camp.

Here is hoping McNeil and Bell both out play Dwyer, Here is hoping the Steelers trade Dwyer,
So you have Bell, Redmond, LSH, Batch. Just a note, if Bell cannot pass protect, the Steelers frown
big time on this, Lets hope he is learning this skill or he will see less playing time than you think.
LSH was a good signing and will take possibly some wear and tear on AB and his punt return duties.

Who says Bell can't pass protect? The worst I have heard is that he is adequate at it but others say he is good at it, like McShay.

I doubt the Steelers take a RB in the second that can't pass protect.

Also, what does Batch offer that he should stay and Dwyer goes? I originally target LHS as the odd man out, but they should cut Batch, keep the rest. Batch offers nothing really.

The pass protection isn't about his willingness or even his ability to do it, it comes down to the mental aspects of the game. Does he know where and when to pick up the blitz? Which side to line up on, etc.?

Hold your horses, I never said that he couldn't pass protect, I am really hoping he can, so that he sees the field alot more
than the other running backs do. I said way before the draft that the next starting rb was not on our team as of yet. Well the Steelers selected
their rb in Bell. Lets see how it plays out.

I didn't say you did, I was just curious as to where you got that from, like an article or talk show.
