Ben needs to hang out with Bell

Just watched the interview with Bell on the Steelers site. During the interview he mentioned that he watched a lot of film and enjoyed watching football in general. I, often, hear how skeptical people are of Ben's study habits, so, I'm thinking the two of them should be forced to hang out. Besides getting really excited for football, I'm really excited about this kid...make that the whole team in general. On a side note, think what you will about Clark but you have to admit the guy is intelligent and you will always know what is on his mind.

 

And maybe he can help get him to 7% body fat. Ben gets fatter every offseason.

 

In Ben's case you can lead him to water but you can't make him drink.

 

ben thought he was near bell. maybe thats just the constant ringing in his ears from all the sacks.

it's a very simple formula. keep ben upright, we win. find ben crumpled on the field , we lose.

ben slimmed down last year alot. i will say his face looks fatter this year but it's early. i don't want him running anywhere with the ball, so he doesn't need to be supermodel slim. sonny jergenson had a beer gut the size of mine and could still throw the ball well. so what if ben looks like he's storing nuts for the winter in his cheeks?

#7 goes to a beat of a different drummer, he is so physically gifted he feels
he doesn't need to study film and mechanics, LOL He has taken way too many hits and
it is showing, here is hoping # 7 realizes this and comes into camp more mentally and mechanically
prepared. We can hope, can't we? But as the old saying goes, its pretty hard to change a leopards spots.

 

Let me preface this by saying I am not a huge Ben fan.

That being said, he frustatrates the hell out of me. There's no denying he has a unique skill set, one that has lent itself to him having the success that he has had. But he's just so stubborn when it comes to his game. Imagine how good he could be if he would just spend some time in the film room.
Take Peyton Manning, for instance. He's a heck of a QB, but I think a good portion of that is due to his understanding of the importance of film study. Manning's skill set probably isn't 2/3's of what Ben's is, but he works at his craft and studies to be the best he could be.
I don't want Ben to be superman, I just want him to take a vested interest in bettering himself. Which is the same I want for all the players.

But, who knows. Maybe we're all wrong. Maybe Ben does study film, and all those reports over the years are incorrect. At this point I'd just be happy if he didn't throw the sideline out pattern any longer.

 

Yes, I should have clarified that. I'm sure as you mentioned he has to study some film. I would think.

 

it won't matter. heck we will probably watch him age back there with all the time this young line is gonna give him.

 

Mac... I am so hoping you are right. I am ever optimistic and that part of me says that this line will allow him to take the hike, drop 7 to 20 feet, eat his lunch, call his wife, change his baby's diaper and then pick out a receiver for a touchdown. If he just does the last part I will be happy, though!
